I am 22 and still live at home. When I was 20 i got into some legal troubles and it set me back about $15k and now that it is all payed off, ill be moving out in the next few months. Not everyone that lives at home does it because they choose to. There is no way i could have paid off $15k in two years if i lived on my own. I know it was my mistake, but i was fortunate enough to have parents that accepted what I had done because I knew it was wrong. They kept me on my feet until I was paid off.

I am 16, i DESPERATLY want to move out the house... I feel limited to what i can do, because my mum is a bit of a control freak. I have managed to get her to open me a bank account, get a moterbike licence for x-mas and get me a laptop... She found out about my condoms i got for free... since she hasnt really talked to me since....

I have got mentoring and some counciling to try and cope, but the best way for me to cope would be to move out into my own home...

Rent for a 1-bedroom flat funished is around about £300/month...

I dont think its good to leave your Mom, Dad when they get Old!

They give you food, cloths and every comfort of life.... and when they get old they need everything from you....

only money is not matter.... its not like you stay away and send them money every month.!

they need your company... you need to take care of them...

I love when my mom ask me that she need water to drink, and i leave everything i am doing at time and get her a glass of water...

I would love to live all my life with my parents... i pray to Allah that they live a long life...

-- if you are leaving your parents in old age, ex-pact same from your children's that they will leave you too when they turn 18 or what so ever....

You are luck if you have Old parents... be kind to them and take care of them.

The latest I could see someone living with their parents is during college to save on rent money. After that I think its strange.

I'll go with Austars on this one. As long as you can save money for things like college/university then it's quite acceptable. But when your study is finished, or you're over 25, it's time to move on....

It's never bad to live with your parents, and it depends on situation.

Ultimately I'd say it depends on the circumstances, but living with mommy at 35 should probably have a good excuse. :)

It is very individual. It depends how that influences your personality, growth, and as well as the relationship with your parents. Win-win situation is always good!

I'd say there are far worse things than living with your parents. That said it is good to stand on your own two feet and not depend on your parents too much. Sad fact is they're not going to be there for you forever. :(

umm, well there is no age limit is there really, people can do what they like. for me i am actually disabled and 21 years old, whilst id love to go out and have my own place right now, im unable to do so because of my disability.

if i was "normal" i would have certainly moved out and gotten my own place long before now. i think the reason people are staying with their parents longer is because its so damn expensive to get your own place now. im not sure about other countries, but in the UK its sooooooooo hard to get on the property laddar, you need to have a deposit of a minimum of £15,000 ($30,000) before the banks will even look at you.

It will depend on a lot of things. How big is the house? If the house is big enough, there is nothing wrong with a retiree couple living with a child that has a nuclear family.

But if you are 40 and living in your parents basement, you better get a job.
