    Hi Roger,

Few basic website analysis tips might be helpful to you:

    1. Check out robots.txt file. Does it exist? Is it properly coded?
    2. Check out canonical issue problem.
    3. Check web page content is unique or not?
    4. Check alt tag.
    5. Check out all Meta tags. Does it properly done?
    6. Check out h1 tag available or not? (One h1 tag in one web page)

All of @Arindam Roy points are great and cover much of the onsite stuff. I would also add check for a sitemap and video sitemap (if videos are on the site).

Then I would focus on off site stuff. Grab a free account at majestic or ahrefs and look at the backlinks. Look for link building consistency over time. Look at the total number of backlinks. The variety of where they come from and be sure the anchor text is varied and not too focused on primary keywords. Then check the top few backlinks to the site and make sure they are coming from decent sites with PR greater than 0

To analyze basic SEO things for your website means you want to get its SEO Score.
You can find various online tools in Google for that.
One of them is SEOMOZ's open site explorer

    Compare it with your house

Does it look as good at your home
Does each page is as clean as each of the room in your house
All the links are as easy to find as all the doors in your house
It should be easy to recognize each page as all the rooms/ corners in your house by just having a mere look
Make your personal pages as private as your personal/ private spaces are in your house (.htaccess and/or robots.txt can help you in that)
Make only good people aware of your house address (develop links sensibly), etc. etc.

    Cheers!

Mainly, you have to check content, if the website has unique content then it is good... you also need to check backlinks, if it looks unnatural then you have to correct it for better result.

Too much stuff to explain really. Why not just sign-up for some all-in-one SEO tool like WebMeUp or alike - thus you'll see tons of info in two minutes (errors & warnings for all that stuff guys mentioned above - from robots.txt and broken links to content and backlinks).

Thanks @ Arindam. I will follow these steps.
"Check out all meta tags" you mean to check all the individual page meta keywords?

hmmm not sure of any free ones. the paid accounts on those sites do let you look at many more backlinks and other information. i'm mostly only interested in their top few "best" backlinks anyway so the free accounts do most of what i need.

Some things you can see with the naked eye, and for some you'll need audit seo tools, and I would check the following:

    1. Domain age
    2. The keywords the site is optimized for (especially the keywords in the URL, page titles, etc.)
    3. internal linking and site tree structure (check what pages have canonicals specified, which are disallowed in the robots.txt)
    4. The anchor texts in internal links
    5. Backlinks form other sites pointing to the site

A great analysis tool (not only for SEO purposes) that I use myself is Woorank. It is free in its basic version and also offers a free trial for more features. It allows you to manage and plan the project of website optimization and details step by step what you have to do.

If you want to figure out how your site is optimized for SEO,
just connect your site with Google Analytics and Google Webmaster tools!
You just need to place a simple code on your site to be able to do that!

As far as I know these two free tools are the best regarding measuring and analyzing your site for SEO purpose!

@Branko Zecevic Thanks dude. Already I have added these coding into my site. Is it enough to analyse my site with Google analytics and webmaster tools ? or any new trending methods available?
