Hello all, Saw an article that Joomla is not as SEO-friendly as other popular open source CMS. Please advise as I am considering using Joomla to build a site. Thank u all in advance.
That's not true. Plus, it is off page SEO that is really going to get your site ranking well. On page SEO is only the beginning but this alone won't get you very far.
I am sure there are lots of plugins to overcome that difficulty in Joomla. Try to optimize the on-page SEO of your site as much as possible and then work on off-page SEO more.
Sort of, i guess it depends on how you get the traffic. But I am referring to things such as social bookmarking, directory submissions, classified ad posting and other methods where you get backlinks from other sites. You can get traffic that way but it helps you rank better if done correctly. My website was originally done in pure HTML/CSS and Jquery with a Page Rank of 2/10. I switched to Joomla, had some off page seo done and now the page rank is 4/10 and it has been like that for about 7 months now and I haven't done any SEO since. So obviously changing to Joomla did not hurt my site.
