I used to have a web hosting with a domain name but thought I would save a couple bucks by pointing just the domain at a different host I have by changing the nameservers and canceling the hosting service itself. It would mean: I wouldn't have a domain managing program or software. For all you in the know, do you think it's a good idea to leave the domain like this or should I just transfer it to a different domain management place even if it means a couple bucks? (GoDaddy, etc.) I would try GoDaddy's email support but they always try to sell you something
Little confused. Are you saying you have (had) hosting at the place you registered the name, but are now changing the nameservers to point to a different host?
Yup. Right on target. But one thing I'm worried about is when my domain expires, how will I be able to manage them? Because I have the domain locked so nobody can temper with it.
I would see about switching to namecheap or godaddy. Some hosts will go under and youll loose the name or some will keep the name from you. Get full (or as much) control as possible.
