If you are a website owner or Internet marketer, you should know the value of good content. You’re probably familiar with the saying, “Content is king,” and that can never be truer when it comes to Web content. Many claim to be savvy copywriters. Really now, what does it take to be one? see full artice here - http://www.gomungoseo.co.uk/Most-Valuable-Copywriting-Skills-to-Look-for-in-a-Writer.html
A copywriter unlike other writers is really a salesman/woman. He/she needs to convince the reader/client that this product or service is what they need. Apart from strong writing skills, copywriters need to come across as sincere and believable. They need to be able to project ethics and intelligence as well as knowledge. It is much harder to do that than one might assume. A good copywriter will increase your sales substantially, and do so quickly.
You should remove the reference to article writer in this sentence. There is a big difference between a copywriter and an article writer. Your entire article is about what a copywriter is and some things a copywriter should do. Reference to an article writer infers that these two areas of writing are the same and they are far from it.
I wouldn't say content is king. If no one ever reads your site, then content is useless. You need to get the content in front of an audience and that takes search engine rankings or ppc traffic. A good copywriter doesn't have to be graceful with the keyboard. They need to understand the market and the person who will be purchasing the product. And then you need a product people want. The best copy writing in the world will not a cent unless the product is wanted.
I do not agree with you! Content is definitely the 'king'. To get your website in front of audience, you need content that is 'good'. Only then you can get good rankings in search engines. So it all starts with good content. Do you think you can ever bring in visitors to your site with low quality content or no content? Search engines won't help you if you have no content or low quality content. So your point "If no one ever reads your site, then content is useless." definitely doesn't make sense to me.
A search engines primary job is to deliver quality content to users. The content, whatever it may be, to users who are looking specifically for something. The content, words that appear on your site, is something that is taken into account when a search engine plugs your site into its algorithm to determine where and how to display your site to its users. Advertisers pay big bucks to be seen by targeted users that the search engines deliver. If a search engine doesn't have the user base, the numbers, to appeal to advertisers, revenue is lost. Depending on who your competition is, words on your site matter. Even with purchased traffic, content is still King. There is no sense in purchasing traffic if your site fails to deliver once a visitor arrives to your site. Yes. Appealing to the market of potential buyers or users is crucial. A writer can't do that until they know that product inside and out, who it appeals to and why, and who and what the competition is. Then they need to be able to craft the words to appeal to the target market. They need to connect with the target market. Only then can a writer provoke a response from the reader. A skilled copywriter can take a product that seemingly few people would actually purchase and generate interest in that product. The person may not actually need the product or ever use it, but at that moment of purchase, the person felt that they had to have it.
