I have no experience at all in photoshop but I'm required to design posters/banners/brochures for my company's products and I tried searching around for free online image editing tools but according to many feedbacks, photoshop is the best software. I just have photoshop installed in my company's computer today and I have no idea how to use it. Does anyone know any tutorial for beginners for photoshop? I need to know how to crop out people's face and design it into a poster/brochure. And I've heard about stuff about layering which I have no idea what it is too. Will I be able to fully master the basics of Adobe Photoshop CS 6 in 2-3 days? If someone can teach me over Skype, I'll be so grateful! Any beginner tutorials to recommend for this?
Basics are easy, mastering it is not. If you seriously need to create some marketing material, I'd just pay for someone who knows what they're doing.
If I can pay, I definitely will but the problem is for my job, I'm asked to do this for 8 hours everyday so unless there is a photoshop virtual assistant who can work for me everyday, this solution is not feasible. When you said basics are easy but mastering is not, what do you mean?
That you learn how to work with layers and similar basic stuff in a jiffy, but to actually produce something that would be considered worthwhile marketing materia won't happen in that timeframe.
try jukeboxlessons.com there are online teachers from all around the world.. maybe you can find one that is available at your time.
Photoshop is the WRONG tool for "posters/banners/brochures". You should be using Illustrator or InDesign for print work.
Yes,you can't use Photoshop for designing brochures, banners, posters, etc. Designing & App tools you might learn but you should be passionate about designing, you should be creative & every-time you should do something different.Think, Creativity & Ability is the most important way to compete others as there are lots of designers roaming around all over web.
I have no difficulty understanding what he meant. It's like anything, one can learn the fundamental basics easy enough. But being good at it takes time and skill, along with proper training.
And then when he starts screwing up, he could just keep blaming it on equipment issues and his incompetent co-workers.
I would suggest you outsource for services for now then you can continue learning in the process. It would be even better if you can look for someone who can work for you as well as walk you through Photoshop Basics. Good luck!
YouTube is a pretty good place for PS and Illustrator tutorials. PSDTuts.com also has a lot of great video tutorials that I've found helpful.
Depends what would you like to learn. It's really easy to get used to basics by following a couple of tutorials but graphic design requires years of experience. I'm designing logos for approximately three years and I'm still learning new things everday - same goes for Illustrator or any other software.
Photoshop is a huge, often confusing program, with a helluva learning curve. If you find a way to "master the basics" of Photoshop in 2-3 days, please share the secret, because I've been at it for a few years myself! Since you're under the gun, my advice is to get a good book for beginners in Photoshop, and don't worry about a full blown training just yet. Whatever techniques you need to finish your project, Google them specifically and you'll likely find plenty of great websites with tutorials as well as Youtube videos explaining how to do it. Good luck!
