guest blogging and relevant forum posting also very much beneficial. try to get link from anywhere which is very much related to your site.
And get links by facebook promotion means create a facebook page with name of your site and explore your site on that page and use that facebook page url in backlinks, it will be useful.

Do little/none of the above. To get good links you shouldn't be making/building them yourself, if you are, they are not good. Create content/material that people want to see, share and tell their friends about, they will do the link for you!
Try to backlink on PR+1 websites that are relevant to your niche... Download seoquake as your website add-on.. and use dropmylink.com to find sites to backlink on Guestposting can take a LONG time to do.

I don't think there is a definite answer to this question. A backlink may appear to be good from many points of view, and yet look suspicious to Google for some reason. Also the anchor text is important. Anyway, if I were you, I would use an inbound link checker to see the backlinks of the sites still ranking in the top 10 on Google. That could give you an idea of what backlinks are safe to use.
