I don't see anything wrong in using another web developers work. Web development encompasses many different disciplines to specialize in and is not limited to just theme creation for WordPress or WordPress in general, not even close. Also the blog is not meant to be exclusively run by one author.

Personally, I disagree about this. There is no doubt that the theme looks nice. The only thing is if I was a WordPress developer and went to that site, recognised it as being a pre-made theme rather a custom one then I would bounce. But yes, the WordPress people are just one small part of it, so it's only a small (?) portion you are potentially alienating.

However, aside from that, as pretty as the them looks, it needs customising to your brand, such as a logo and colours unique to you.

Having a custom design no doubt is great and helps to stand out from other websites, but evaluating a site based only on pre-made or custom can be misleading. There are many instances where highly sought after web developers and authors of popular WordPress plugins use the default WordPress theme.

The current setup is by no means meant permanent. Now as the blog grows and more people visit it, will definitely consider a design unique to the blog.

    Thanks for the feedback.

What specifically were you looking for if you weren't interested in comments regarding design?

You should really have your tags at the top, at least then it will be a bit easier to navigate to topics that interest someone.
