Woah, I just got indexed REALLY fast. Like 4 days. I'm really happy about that. However, I have a PageRank of 0. I'm not saying that I have enough backlinks to warrant a high PR, however is a PR0 normal? have I done something wrong? I am being "sandboxed" whatever that means? Just a little bit paranoid, it's my first site. Thanks. Grand.
Phew. OK, a slightly unrelated question. I signed up for Google Webmaster Tools before my site got indexed and uploaded a sitemap xml file. Google Webmaster Tools is telling me my site has been indexed and crawled, however I just discovered something...the only pages which are indexed are the ones directly linked to my homepage despite my sitemap. Argh! Is this normal? Is there are problem with my sitemap?
One of my site was indexed about 6 months ago, it has still PR0 also . It needs many links to increase the PR.
I am noticing the same thing. Google is saying that I have 65 links or so in my sitemap, but they have only crawled 11. I think that's because they crawled a bunch and just haven't updated themselves. I see them crawling my site all the time now. Now thinking about it, I have no idea what's going on.
If you have even 1 backlink your PR is probably not 0, but only Google knows what it is for sure. The visible toolbar PR updates every 3 months at best so what else could a new page and/or site be but 0. It can take several months, sometimes even longer before you will see a visible PR.
All new websites start off with a PR0 and will gradually increase as you gain more and more backlinks
Yeah and judging by what most people say and know; it doesn't matter what your PR is if there isn't quality content being backlinked to.
Cool, thanks. Now, can someone help me with my indexing problem? I would have started a new thread but I've already mentioned it. Anyone know why all my site isn't indexed and only the pages linked from my homepage?
Roman has probaby given the best advice in this thread Toolbar PR isn't an indicator of what the actual PR of a site is , because it updates only about once every three months or so. If you do have some quality backlinks, just sit back and relax until the next PR update. You should get a PR, if Google includes your data in its update. And currently focus on ranking high for your terms
Are the other pages linked from your site anywhere? If not then Google doesn't know about them. If they are, the further from the home page they are the longer it takes it index. Your pages should not be more than 2 clicks from your home page. Besides, 4 days is nothing and you'll surely see new pages indexed and then dropped, then re-indexed for quite some time before it starts stabalizing. My advice, forget indexing and PR, work hard and build a quality site and it will all fall in place soon enough.
As others have said dont worry about the PR yet as it takes time to see the update and PR doesnt seem to matter too much in relation to getting on page 1. I think you need to start checking what position your site is for your optimized keywords. Realistically your aim is to get number 1 spot on the first page with your top 5 keywords. Go for it.
obviously, no one hopes for a pr as soon as you start, you have to wait for months, unless you have a very old domain.
