Yep the stats are so up and down because it's a news related site. The news goes through news spiders and sites such as Digg and Netscape. Hotter news = more hits.

These stories make no sense. You fear being "click-bombed" out of Google? Are you kidding me?

If people aren't willing to disclose how they're making the "big money", then I ignore the claims. You can mention a blog without being run out of business by anyone.

It's not uncommon for someone to want to keep their work private.

I totally agree. Like me. That's why I never announce my earnings in forums.

I have noticed that the first few people to reply to these type of threads throw bombs.

Say you made 100k in the last 7 years and it has grown each year. That is not that hard to do with a popular site and good content. I totally believe that your claim is possible. Though it would be hard to believe that you make it with the site in your sig since there are almost no comments. Few blogs that are widely read don't have reader participation.

Maybe you can post a top 7 things someone trying to make money with a blog should focus on.

edit: obviously you are not talking about the blog in your sig. The stats are pretty bad for that site and every referral comes from this thread.

Yes I have a link in my profile to a new blog I've started running. Don't most people?

I believe it has a wealth of info that many people on here could get stuck into.

Also, yes I am creating an ebook, but you can judge from my blog posts whether it's going to be 'crappy' or not.

Interesting story dave, the one thing that strikes me as odd however is:

Why have a blog hosted on blogger when you make so much cash? ;)

Why would I not want to? It's free and easy to setup.

Also, when I'm actually blogging about blogging, wouldn't it be best to show people that you can create a blog and maintain it without having to spend a penny?

Dude that is such BS. AIf you create blogs for a living why would would you take the chance of one of them being deleted overnight? A domain +hosting is only 12 bucks a month. If you can't afford that you aren't a serious blogger. If your blog is deleted all your content is gone as well a the subdomain and traffic.

    Hey David...

You shouldn't be surprised about people being skeptical about your post. You registered a few months ago, have a few posts and claiming that you have a blog that makes XXX.XXX without posting a link to your blog.

Now, I'm not telling that you are necessarily lying or that you have to give a link. But, you can't expect people to swallow what you say without a word. Earning screenshots (that can be altered via photoshop), traffic stat graphs (that anybody can draw on Excel in 5 minutes) or stat counters (that can be easily adjusted to whatever number you like) add absolutely no weight to those claims.

You wont believe how many people make posts like this one and a few posts lated start a thread in B/S/T to sell their "miracle" eBook.

I do hope that you're not one of them and my apologies in case you are an honest person.

    Good luck with your blogs!

There's that old saying: "You have to spend money to make money"

The amount of people I've come across who've started out a blog on Blogspot, ran it until it's got popular then totally regretted never moving it to it's own "brandable" domain.

Imo, if you're teaching people how to blog. That's one of the first things you should be teaching them. Whilst starting out on Blogspot is free & easy, imo it's not sustainable. There's a lack of functionality "most" professional bloggers need.

Funny how these threads always bring in the replies....must be the titles.

Dave I know your football blog and its pretty good but I also know one of your (I think) how to guides which I like.

Just a tip. A problogger should never copy & paste his blog post to open a new thread on a forum, most of all this one.

    You still playing the guitar?

By the way, you need to update your age in your myspace profile ;)

And let me add that anybody who has been in internet business that long (especially blogging) should know what sort of response he or she will get for posting something like this in a webmaster forum.

    P.S. You know the guy?
