Duplicate content checker Virante

    Hey all

    I use the duplicate content checker at Virante

    http://www.virante.org/seo-tools/duplicate-content

    Thats the result, and the problem it says is this:-

    Default Page Check: FAILED
    You have not standardized your default pages meaning the following versions of your url return a 200/OK Header, which may cause duplicate content issues. There is a version of my site WITH /index.html/ and one without.

    I use Joomla 2.5. Any idea how I can get rid of the index.html thing still functioning so it doesnt count as duplicate?

    The other 4 checks Virante does were successful.

    I normally use webmaster tool to check put the duplicate content as well as errors in your site.

    As I know Webmaster tool shows you that how many pages have same meta content. But I am not sure about page content. Do webmaster tool shows duplicate page content? If yes then can you please let me know?

    webmaster tools doesnt show duplicate content. only duplicate metas, titles etc. I've sorted out all my duplicate metas, titles and such. I used copyscape today and found duplicate content, but in a very strange way. :-/

    Webmaster tool provide us to detect duplicate content in title, meta tags as well as description. For page content we have to use some other tools.

    Hi, Webmaster provide duplicate content information only for Meta Title and Meta Tags. For Checking Content you should use this tool : http://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/

    Website Auditor always showed me accurate results about all duplicate content issues. If you're not going to use the tool on a regular basis, there is a free version out there.

    Why don't you guys just use CopyScape? It's the best tool for checking duplicate content! :)

    well, if you mean you have same content on your main page and also on other pages on your site, duplicated content on the same domain are not really duplicated, use sitemap and give priority to your pages and that's it, I guess.

    if you mean duplicated on other sites or from other sites to your site then just use copyscape or a simple google search for the quoted content.
