Hi,Please give suggestions for a new website. I can spend 20-30 Pounds on scripts but free versions are preferable. Currently I have got hostgator unlimited hosting for a year so that's not a problem. Thanks in advance.
A couple of ideas come to mind: Developing a service that has a membership section in it, like a forum or a social media site, can be a great idea. There are free scripts available for both. Just Google them. Another thing you can try is building a small affiliate site, like a job search engine. You can get affiliated with a search engine like http://www.careerjet.com/ (see their partner section) and then you can easily set up your own site. You will get paid for searches done through your site and if you add, let's say, AdSense to it you can get a few bucks from that too.
What are you good at or what are your interested in? Creating content or generating ideas for something that you already have some knowledge on should hopefully give you a head start.
Use your expertise, whatever you're good at or whatever you're interested in. Because motivation can bring you success. You need to be motivated about your topic of choice. If you're interested, passionate and motivated, and even if you don't know much about the topic. You will still be able to make it. If you're new to these things and can write good content. I'd suggest you to open a blog and write good quality content. That'd would be an excellent starting point where you learn literally a lot of things. Once you're used to the normal best practices of internet marketing, then you can definitely go ahead and open an affiliate site, or almost any kind of money making site. You just need to be persistent, that's it.
Depends on your domain names. Are you planning to just "hand reg" a name or buy one off the aftermarket? Do you have a domain name budget? If not, my advice would be to make a website based off an idea that you are passionate about so you enjoy the process.
Thanks for the link, developing a script for fun for that API now check out my "progress" on http://test.helgesverre.com
IF you would be making an hosting affiliate site come talk to me and lets see how we can help you get it setup and running. PM me.
It looks great. If you can now get a great sounding domain name, slap some AdSense ads on it - you will be good to go.
Thanks Nowhere near done yet though, the API has a lot of options i want to incorporate into the site, and the design needs to be neat and tidy. I might sell the script when i'm done(10-20 bucks most likely).
That sounds even better. If, after finishing it up, you can sell it as as a script that would be ideal. Jobs are always in demand and job search engines, if promoted the right way, can be a gold mine.
Me and a buddy is also working on an amazon affiliate store script(AffiliateStoreCreator.com), although hes mostly working on that and i do marketing and SEO, so i have time to do this on my own. Will work more on it today ^^
A few suggestions: You could create one of those 9GAG clone sites, splash a "You must authorize with facebook" scripts and watch it got viral. Start a theme/template store website for the "lesser known" CMS's(Easier to rank for in google, and the customers are more "desperate".. sort of). Start a Mobile Wallpaper Website.
Thanks all for the replies. I might work on affiliate site. @Helge : I have thought about making 9gag kind of site but then there are so many already is it still worth?
Well... yes and no.. Really depends on how you advertise it. The way to go with those sites are on facebook though, if you can get all your friends and family to go on the page and share things every day for a month, and have one of those "you need to sign in with facebook" scripts, then you might be able to make it go viral.
Most of the functionality is done. I have packaged it to be easily editable and customizable. Will finish it when i get home from work(In 1 hour). A demo of the script is available here: http://test.helgesverre.com
Wordpress is the way to go. Do the Wordpress.org and host on Hostgator. It's easy-to-use, quite powerful, and flexible. I've built hundreds of these sites. If you would like to see one - just let me know. Thanks.
