Post something that will appeal to readers and NOT just simple one liners ... You ain't going to get any likes that way. Also, make sure you post unique stuff and don't just copy stuff to put up here. Try to make it different otherwise the copy police moderating the forum will pounce! Above all else DO NOT SPAM! Try letting loose a posting bot and you'll be kicked off quicker than a greased weasel up a drainpipe
Hard to get likes? Possibly. I give out likes when it's something funny. I give out likes if I think a post is useful to others, even if it's not helping me directly. I have to admit, when people are crying about likes, I feel less likely to like a post (it's getting tiring). Don't get me wrong, I believe in free speech, but if I was in the situation of no likes, I'd put the effort getting them and then and going on with business. After all, the site's free, they're not benefiting from BST (unlike eBay or Warrior Forum do from their marketplaces, for example), so a bit of effort isn't the end of the world or a big ask. I'd be pissed if I had to pay $20 to join and get three likes to access BST or whatever part of a site interests me. Another way to put it all: sometimes, giving likes is about being selfless (no benefit for the giver) and I think it works both ways (to get likes you need to be selfless, just to make it clear).
I'm giving likes like candys on Halloween night.. It is really easy to get them when you relax and don't think about just getting it.. I've been seeing people who are just trying to gather 3 likes and nothing else.. They are sucking up to the well known members of the forum, instead of normal behaviour..Sad, really sad...
It is a new rule and we have to respect it. DigitalPoint has helped many of us immensly in reaching our goals so I think that such rules are absolutely nothing compared to the value that we are getting. On top of that, such a rule promotes helping other people out which I personally think is great.
I don't mind the new system, it's even exiting to check if someone has liked your posts or not. I've been posting a lot in these last two days, started it to get likes but now I just like posting. Never been very active in forums, but this has changed now all thanks to "likes" I like likes even if I don't have too many yet.
I agree. I also miss the old iTrader system. Oh well, DP is still a great forum to be on, and there is still a wealth of knowledge here and lots of opportunity.
Same here. I haven't been very active as of late, but since I have some time off during the summer, I can invest a little bit more time here.
I would have thought you'd have been glad to see the back of it seeing as your's was pretty bad: iTrader rating: 4 - (75.0%)
So you would agree the old itrader system was pretty flawed then, not really a good way of rating people as it was often abused in that way.
Are likes that important, at other forums i have 4k post and only then people started to give me props for my posting and helping them. But i don't give much about likes, start or others kind of reward stats. Maybe you should neither.
