Text colour won't change

Discussion in 'WordPress' started by calomon, Jun 25, 2013.

I tried to change the "post title" colour just to see what it would look like. Now that i want to change it back, the original colour doesn't reappear. It saved all changes and i put the original colour code back in too

    cheers

Another obvious, are you using a plugin that minifies, combines and caches the CSS?

Anyway, to investigate, I would use the inspector (most good browsers have a HTML inspector) to see which file is being used to apply the CSS colour and if any overrides are in place.

Sorry, I don't really understanding what you're saying. This is the first time i'm making a website. I haven't installed any plug-ins myself. And the text colour changed fine one way but refuses to turn back. I haven't gone in to any css styling, i've done it all through the typography settings in the theme bit

Not really. How do we know how you are changing it? I suggest you provide it (the link) to someone privately.

Or at least give us all a clue about what theme you are using.

The theme is Simplicity by WooThemes. I changed the text through Theme Options -> Typogrphy , then used the colour wheel. -> save changes.
When i try to change back it says it's saved the changes but the colour hasn't

And if you go back in (to Typography), what colour is shown (the one you changed it to, or the one you want to change it from)? Did you view it from another computer/device?

The colour is on the one i want it to be (grey) but shows up as orange. I've viewed it from different machines and different administrator accounts.

Use Chrome for this. Right click the text that is orange and click "Inspect element". The right will show you CSS styles and where it is getting them from. It will also show you if grey has been chosen and overridden by orange.

Otherwise, this could be some kind of server-side caching, but going by your earlier response, this bit is beyond you. Contact your host.

Yes it has been overridden. I've tried attaching a screenshot but the reply box won't allow it. Do you know how i can stop it from overriding the grey?

Not without seeing what is causing the override. You can always upload to snag.gy or similar and place a like in the post (remove the http:// and change . to (dot).
