Checking site's ranking

Hey lovely people! I have a question about checking your site's ranking for a keyword. When I manually check it by typing in the keyword in Google, the result is different from using a tool such as http://smallseotools.com/keyword-position/. For ex. in the Google result page my site might rank 36th but in the tool it ranks 22nd, which is a big difference. I don't know where to trust. Thanks in advance!

I advice you to use SERP add on for Firefox which helps to show the genuine result for your keywords on Google.

The rank is effected by your settings of rank checking tool. If you ensure the setting is correct, then the tool data is more trusted. Because the manual rank checking is influenced by the your search history.

There is no tool that will show you EXACTLY ALL your backlinks... Your tool is good, I also use SeoSpyGlass tools to check rankings. ;)

Manually checking the keyword rankings in search engines is the best rather than using tools.

Thanks for all the advice! I'm now using incognito and several tools to double check the ranking.

Whatsmyserp.com is a good free SERP checker. Also, if you don't want to get personalized results in google when checking your ranks, use pagewash.com to get genuine results.

Google's SERPs constantly change from several factors, from IP to browser, so NONE of them are right, and ALL of them are right. Use GWT to see the AVERAGE position (that's why it's there).

As per My Point of View, Manual Checking is best. I also face this type of problem so i never trust on any tool.

best to use hosted tools like raven or rankcheckerace or even seomoz their rankcheck as they use dedicated ips and local ones without any setting interference
