Please review my Indian Vegetarian Recipe Ideas website. I have just started. I am now posting mostly south indian recipe and will post most of north indian and bengali recipes also.

 

Website looks good. Some of the gf still don't know to prepare recipe . If you add video also i.e easy to understand how to make the recipe. This will help them. This is my feedback.

 

I think you can get a better theme, and there are themes for cooking and recipes.

Your permalink structure is wrong. You need to have it by post name or /sample-post/ or /%postname%/

As of now Google has crawled 193 pages of your site which is good but your results don't look so good:

Look at your competition with correct permalinks:

Since your site is new I would change your permalink structure now. It would be worth the effort. The latest version of WP should redirect your posts automatically and Google should reindex your pages correctly eventually. You could also use a plugin like Redirection to permanently 301 redirect your URLs. If you simple change the permalink structure then go back and to the first link in my post and click on the links that Google has indexed and it goes to the appropriate post, Wordpress has successfully redirected your posts. If not you will have to manually redirect your post through a plugin like Redirection or your .htaccess.
Sounds like a pain in the butt yet it will be worth it.

Actually I wanted to change the permalink but when I changed error is coming error 500. That is why I m continuing with default permalink. Can u please help how to change so that this error will not show

 

Overall, the site seems like it could have legs.

Here are a couple changes I would make.

• Test to see if people use the tag cloud. Otherwise just get rid of it.
• Get rid of the geo stat counter, it just adds clutter to your sidebar.
• Get rid of one of your category widgets. You have two for some reason.
• Is the blog roll necessary? If not, take it out of the side bar.

Questions:

• Why is there a big open gap at the top of your sidebar?

Those are my thoughts.
The biggest thing is the permalink structure as bigsky mentioned.

 

Thanks for your review. I have removed the category, geo stat and tag cloud as advised by you. But the problem is I could not change the permalinks as I am getting error when I change it to post title.

 

You may have to do some Googling on that one. I am not sure how what could be the problem.

 

I recommend to use more and greater images on site
Also change background of sites which is now very gray and boring.
Change favicon and correct widgets

I'm veggie and your site is pretty OK, would suggest you to add some images.

 

This will take a bit of work but it will be worth it. There may be a faster method but the following will work and it doesn't take that much technical skill.

Download this plugin:

Install as usual.

Make a note of all your existing permalinks. For example:

This above is a critical step because you won't know what to do next after you change your permalink structure.

Next change your permalink structure from the Wordpress dashboard.

Next go to Wordpress Dashboard -> Tools -> Redirection -> Add new redirection

Next copy your first old ugly URL into Source URL

Next copy your new URL with changed permalink into Target URL

Make sure to use full URLs in both cases ->

http://www.mydomain.com/?p=249/
http://www.mydomain/post-example/

You have just 301 redirected a URL

I would test your old URL then continue with all your old ugly URLs.

 

I have changed the template to a premium theme. But the only problem is with the permalinks and I have contacted my host to help me in that. Please take a look at the new theme and input your opinion here.
