Which of the following wordpress Permalink Structure is most preferred by Search Engines? www.example.com/postname/ www.example.com/postname.html www.example.com/postname/category/postname/ www.example.com/postname/2013/6/22/postname/ Code (markup):
I typically build everything with /postname for visitor related eas of use. Julian is correct that it has little to real definable impact on SEO. Nigel
i agree with NEI, the permalink with Category is most useful.. you can also use the No-category-base plugin so this way the permalink will be better.
I don't see any benefits in having a category slug in the URL, it just makes links longer. Links should be as short as possible and contain the title of the post, so that users will be able to guess what is the post about before they open it in their browser.
As for me, I've changed my permalink to include the year ../2013/postname/ , and it seems increasing more visitors from organic traffic by using "2013 long tail keyphrases ...".
According to Google, the shorter the URL the better - http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=76329 I usually use the post name structure for my permalinks. Personally I think this looks a lot cleaner for users. That is interesting that Vanrithy said he seems to have increased organic traffic from including date in the URL. Have you researched and looked at actual traffic info from your website?
I always go with this 2 kinds of permastruct 1. /year/month/postname.html (The Google Blogspot permalinks style, why Google use this style? I am just guessing there is a magic here ) 2. /postname/
best structure is post name so special and short also very simple to use,but if you used category you must sure make it short as you can to feel the benefits
