Age Of Empires 3 (AOE3) is one my all time favorite strategy games. Although it would be a crime not to mention Command & Conquer: Generals and of course the expansion C&C: Zero Hour. Do you prefer real time strategy or turn based? Sid Meier's Civilization series is also very fun to play.

    Solitaire is my favourite. :p

Actually, I'm more into old-school ones such as Dune II, Red Alert II (especially skirmishes with some custom mods) and similar. I never got to complete Dune II due to a bug (although I had a legit copy, a particular level was impossible to complete), but still enjoyed trying over and over again as different houses.

The Cannon Fodder series (the first two anyway) of games have to be the best "strategy" games I've ever played though.

Civilization is the only strategy game. There is nothing else that can touch it. It's not face paced so it allows you time to think and formulate a plan over time. It's the all time best. I got so addicted to it I had to delete it from my computer.

I spent countless hours playing HOMM3 :) HOMM4 was hugely disappointing. HOMM5 was better but I haven't played many hours of it.

I've spent months playing HMM3 and weeks HMM5:)
    Civ4 is also cool.
I know they've released Civ5, but I could never find enough time to play it, although I've downloaded it 2 or three times

I was also addicted to the Civilization franchise. Civ and HMM were the best turn based strategy games.

    Hi.
I love strategy games. I was looking for a thread in this game forum about strategy games, and I found it. These are the following strategy games that I have played on PC/MAC:

    - Command & Conquer (multiple versions)
    - Starcraft I & II
    - Civilization (2 versions)
    - Virtual Villagers (2 versions)

These game were not played on a PC/MAC but are strategy games that I enjoyed playing on console:

    - Aliens vs. Predators
    - Star Wars Battlefront II
    - Shaolin Warriors
    - Lord of the Rings

Are sandbox games considered strategy games? Simulations? RPGs? Let me know.

Not typically. Strategy games are usually RTS (real-time strategy) or TBS (turn-based strategy) games.
