Contest $150 for Car Dealer Design

Hi,

I want to put up a car dealership site here.

The model for the layout will be http://www.gorillathemes.com/demo/car-dealer/ (I intend to use that script)

The color scheme and style should follow v7. It would be smart to browse the different pages on that site to get a feel for what I like and the different things that can be done with the style.

Some changes to the Gorilla Themes layout:

Top nav:
Home, Inventory, News, About Us, Why V7, FAQ, Testimonials, Contact

Right hand side:
Above the “top deals” put “A Message from John”
Below that, FaceBook and Twitter links.
Ixnay the “Top Deals” and replace with “Specials”
“A Word from John” text with video underneath.

I'll pay $100 for the winning design, and that's for the design alone. I'll pay additional charges to slice and code it so it can easily be put into the Gorilla themes script. Gratuities for exceptional work.

I'll also pay additional charges for banners, etc.

What I will need to see is (1) a home page design (http://www.gorillathemes.com/demo/car-dealer/ remodeled to reflect V7's colors, style, etc) and (2) a details page (http://www.gorillathemes.com/demo/car-dealer/inventory/equinox-crossover/ remodeled).

I want some details.
1.Above top deals you want a widget showing “A Message from John” with some message by you underneath. Right?

2. Then below “A Message from John” widget you want a Facebook & twitter links OR widget?

3.Top deals widget should be renamed as Specials. Right?

4.Then a widget saying “A Word from John” and a video underneath.Right?

5.So the sequence of the Right hand table would be
“A Message from John”
FaceBook and Twitter
“Specials”
“A Word from John”
Right?

6.Slider images should remain the same as in the demo template? You will ad your own.is it?

ok here is a try as per your requirements.
I have taken basic color scheme from your V7 website.
I left the logo part as it is, because it can be replaced by any logo, either you have or to be designed.

A couple things. The topnav should be:

I'm not worried about it, easily modified I'm guessing.

The banners that go diagonally across the pictures - those colors are exact matches to v7 colors? the v7 colors have been called retro, but those seem more modern... Hard to tell. Is that what you referring to when you mentioned slider images?

And it seems to want more green, somewhere on the page.. Just a feeling.

None of those are big issues. Overall I love what you've done there. Could I see a details page? ( like http://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/150-for-car-dealer-design.2660638/ )

I'm not sure that i understood correctly what you mean by facebook and twitter widgets. Is this what you need?

Do you want that particular theme to be modified or open to any design inspired by that theme?
Because at the end you have to get the winning design applied on the gorilla theme script as well.
And a totally new design organized same as the model layout will take a good amount of money to get coded.
Do correct me so that i can post a new entry with a different design.

1.Yes navigation menu will be modified.

2.I was asking about those cars images fading out one after the other,those images will added by you yourself or i have to add them.

3.No issues about any change,they can be made as per your instructions.

I don't want a new layout. I like the layout as is. I generally like what you've done. But the design elements - the component images and css from Gorilla themes, I don't want any of those. Ideally, when we upload the new theme, we won't use a single image or css element from Gorilla themes.

So, no, not a totally new design. I want to keep the layout as is.

To be honest, it is hard to see the v7 colors in that design. I think Jurry's design is better at incorporating the v7 color scheme.

I can give more feedback later. Gotta go take pictures of cars now. Back in the evening, Japan time.

Wow, you did a great job of incorporating the V7 colors. I'll be back in a bit with some feedback for everybody.

 

Okay, I am not a designer so I am just going to say some things I like and I don't like and see what happens.



See how the links are green, and then turn silver on mouseover? I really like that.



The logo in the upper left ought to use the Unicorn font which used to be used on all v7 sites.

The colors of normal links and mouse over links can be edited in css, when do the coding.

Revision with slight changes.
I dont think a Car dealer website will retain its professional look if three types of colors will be used on 4 different widgts.
And menu was getting a bit plane by removing gradient so i sticked to gradient.
Link colours can be changed as per your instruction and they will be shown better in the live version.

I really appreciate all the work that is being done here. I know I am being somewhat of a PITA and I'll take that into consideration when the time comes to pay up.

That being said...

Please note the v7 colors here. Nobody is using the purple, and the other colors are under-used.

Now compare the designs above with, say, this and this.

I would say that the designs here are polished, and I like that. But the older v7 designs had a warmth that is somewhat lacking, and I believe that is because of the lack of color.

Please don't hate me. I love the work done here. We are on third base, but I want a home run.
