What to do when it's difficult to get backlinks from related sites?

Well, sometimes it's difficult to rank the website for some keywrods. It is said: try to get backlinks from relevant but related sites. There are some niches that has some big portals that doesn't allow backlink inclusion on the signature or stuff like that.

In case, when it's difficult to get one way links from relevant websites , what should be the next step ? Or just an alternative step??

    Thanks,

    Dave

Write content that might make them want to link you. But seriously the game has been done/played to death IMHO...

    Bribery might work best!

I said absolutely different thing and about link trading, that's different thing :) I asked, manual link bulding and alternatve methods, not link trading that's more than clear it's normal and acceptable. But without paying 300$ for a link, I would like to discover other method instead.

    Thanks

Try using Google and checking out the top results on the related search terms. Slow and tedious but you get to choose and suss out each thing as you come across it.

And yet still I can't help but think "on site content"...

of course still matter, and will always matter... ( at least for the next 5 years until google will find another type of algorithm which will make the difference between a solid link and a spammy link..)

Because thousands upon thousands of crud links will still give you PR. Doesn't mean you can then get a single page 1 SERP from it though if your pages are not providing the end user the best answers to their search queries

@Revelations-Decoder hm, a penalized site may be recovered? I read some good articles about some tricks from what I have tested they're working for a small time.

Well, you shouldn't do anything because it could be dangerous for your website... And also this will NOT lead to more visitors to your websites because people won't be interested to visit a SEO blog from dog-training website ;)

Link baiting! That's one way. If you are unable to get links from them, but are able to leave comments, then go ahead and do so. Make yourself known through relevant, hopeful comments. Build relationships with them, before building links.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

    Hi david_ben,

    have you tried dropmylink[dot]com ?
Really helpful tool for finding dofollow blogs you can leave a comment on. Also if you have SEOQuake plugin installed you can check on page PR of all the pages that are suggested.

    This is what I do:
Make well-written and fully researched articles and another writer/blogger will make it as good reference. That way you'll get one backlink. It always work and you'll improve (indirectly) On-page and Off-page SEO at the same time.

    For comment, whenever I see:
    1. Comment from related sites.
I hate people whom writing comment because they wish to leave a link. Spamming technique to increase rank? Well, think about it once again.
    2. Entering keyword in 'name field'.
Didn't bother to read the comment. Just wipe it out as fast as possible.
    3. Leaving URL in 'url field'.
Leaving link is not a big deal. However, I don't like it. If they write the URL after building the relationship, I may allow it. Any comment with URL filled wouldn't being approved.
    4. Filling comment with link.
It will be deleted immediately. Only write link if the author ask it or after build strong relationship.
Most of them will be deleted automatically. 76% comments with criteria explained above are spam.

While it is so easy to get Do Follow link, I don't have any idea why people prefer using spamming technique. Just make sure your article is great and qualify to be used as reference.

I didn't hate comment. Just don't like to read thousand of comments each day which most of them are spam.

    Agree.
