Which URL format is good for SEO influence and why? Please suggest... www dot domain dot com / subdomain-pagename/ www dot subdomain dot domain.com /pagename/
yeah, as bizfox said, its probably better to do subdomain.domain.com/pagename though google doesnt really work as well as it used to for exact match domain names, it still counts a bit, and the pagename is still very important
same. depends about the contents. last times G not prefer name domains. for ex. if you speaks about nature, you don't find domains in first position that contains this domain name.
first one is better IMO basically because it seems more legit and it gives a sense of authority. I honestly haven't seen subdomain.domain.com, but maybe I'm just weird. ;p
Lool woops, well I meant sites made for affiliates as I was guessing that he wasnt going to be creating a forum or a blog to a pre-existing site. Sorry for being an idiot revalations-Decoder I feel like a total noob now. lol
I was just codding you. strange you mention "affiliates" though as it's always worth bearing many things in mind...
I would personally choose to use dot domain dot com / subdomain/url-page 2 Reasons: 1. When you use the other method, it is counted as a separate domain. This can be fine in a small amount of instances. If people are linking to -> subdomain dot domain dot com / pagename, it wont go toward the main root domains link popularity. *** NOW NOW. This is theory. But I would say, you get what i mean for the most part. Subdomains are treated *SLIGHTLY* different in terms of all that good ole link equity you have built up for your root domain and inner pages. --- Small, Slightly relevant example. If you go to google and search "Digital Point" (without the quotes) you will see the Forums.digitalpoint.com link appear first. Right above the root domain. The subdomain is outranking the root domain, because they have more links pointing back to it. Thousands and thousands of links pointing to the subdomain, but not the root. Now theoretically, if I can get more links back to my site, than the root domain has(and have it target the anchor text "digital point") I can outrank the root domain.(<- this is a bland and broad example, with alot more details to it. Dont take it literally).. Long story short, what I am trying to say it, Dont separate your domains by using subdomains. Use one root, and then an inner directory. I will be creating a forum soon, and I will point it to .com/forum .... 2. ITS HARDER TO REMEMBER! You always, always want to make things as easy as possible for people to remember. There is small difference between subdomain.domain./com and .com/subdomaindirectory ... But people ar emuch more used to seeing directories after the root. Subdomains(I'd guess) are barely used compared to subdirectories (ex.com/subdirectory)
