Google penalty - How long to be lifted ?

I had a google penalty 30 days ago. I received an email from them about it, with the reason: hidden layers with keywords and links. All my fault.

I immediately corrected the issue, and filled a reinclusion request. Till now, nothing happened.

    - How long does it take for the reinclusion to be considered ?
    - Shall I refill the reinclusion request after sometime, if nothing happens ?
    - And if you have ever had a Google penalty, what did you do wrong ? Were you lifted ? How long did it take ?

you could try contacting their search support about it or leave a note for Matt Cutts to look into it.

But as always, we're not Google, so you're often better going directly to the source -- Google.

I just wanted to share experiences. I have filled in the reinclusion request, and I feel that's all I can do about it.

I haven't found any support or contact page in Google.

Shall I add a comment in his blog, or email him?

E-mail would be more direct because he might miss it on his blog, but you could try just leaving a comment for starters.

    Just to share experiences.

My penalty was just lifted, and my site is back in Google.

Curiously, I have uploaded a sitemap yesterday, and the penalty went away 1 day after that. I didn't have a sitemap before.

It makes me think having a sitemap should help you having a penalty lifted.

Thanks for letting us know lordcage!

What happened to your Google rankings before and after this happened? How long did your ban last and did you loose PR and regain it?

No, they don't look good right now.

People say it take some days or maybe some weeks for you to get a good SERP as before.
