That's like saying "there will always be people who don't respect rules so there is no need to do anything about it". How smart. If you didn't notice, spammers like the mentioned one are active in almost every section I am subscribed to. But the General Chat is attracting morons like a magnet because they can increase their post count without having to write something actually meaningful. I'd like to "hang out" in that sub-forum but I really can't because when there is a "normal" thread created, these noobs always come and ruin the discussion. I don't see any reason why we should overlook spam just because it is in General Chat.
I think that General chat section isn't place where you should write something meaningful. General chat is place where you can hang out , that is why they call it ''GENERAL CHAT''. There are useless posts but every thread in that section can be described as useless.
Useless or not, it is depend on the member whom writing the comments. Even thread in 'serious' category can be a total useless if there is a someone writing comment that leading the thread into total garbage. But, useful or not, it doesn't matter for me. New member might need to learn one or two lessons on how to 'live' in forum while old member might give an example for them. Well, I sound like a teacher.
I saw that there are spammers everywhere on the forum. It's not just about stupid comments, I saw threads that are put in wrong section. Like for example, there are section named ''Introductions'' but someone is obviously so stupid to put introduction thread in the section named ''General Marketing'' (here is she).....
When you see something posted in wrong category or something that violates our posting guidelines, please use the report key to alert us. I always try to work the bad post report queue before doing anything else.
It's not something that I do...Usually, I just ignore them and leave moderators to care about that. Now, I see a lot more spam than usuall (maybe, cause I was banned ) so I will use report button more often..
I am really agree with these points from you. As one of the best forums in the world definitely Digital Point want to check the quality of the posts if it is in General chat or not.
Another idea that might prevent (illiterate) spammers from joining the forum: f) basic English test on the registration page
Don't be such a party pooper Devtard. Some of us get a good laugh out of the ridiculously written bad English. Would you take this humor away from us?
That can limit number of DP users but also can increase quality of DP users. But latest changes happened just few months ago, I don't expect some changes in the near future.
Maybe I am weird, but I don't find these posts amusing. By the way, am I really the only one who can notice the relationship between poor grammar and the tendency to post a lot of crap?
If someone is about to laugh at my bad english, I would blame Google translate for it. You give me more reason to stay in DP. The 'CapsLock' thread is the best among the others. It remain me of my friend whom using all caps in FB. I block him temporary because of it.
You're English is good enough because we can understand you just fine. However there are a few who have such a poor command of English, that I sometimes am not sure what they are going on about. I am not a native speaker of English, but I have improved with time.
