I have lots and lots of complaints about the new and improved DP and a few of these I have tried to express in another thread that I had started, which questions the very need to fix some thing which was not only not broken, but was universally acknowledged as the best Techie forum on this here Earth. However, I would like to specifically know as to what "You have insufficient privileges to reply here." means. I find this notice when I try to join a conversation about an offer for a site/script or a service. As of now, this has stopped me from purchasing two scripts for my clients. Can some one urgently explain as to what and why this notice appears? thank you for your time. Ken
"There are a few depreciated areas in Buy/Sell/Trade... Scripts, eBooks and Templates." My dear chap, are you by any chance in Politics or indeed in the Civil Service? Please do forgive me for saying this Shawn, but its just that this sounds like some thing from "Yes Minister" the fabulous British TV political satire/sitcom. And therefore, I am afraid that I do not know what you said. I have a very simple but urgent question (urgent because it has already stopped me from bidding for two scripts for my clients.) So why am I seeing this "You have insufficient privileges to reply here." What privileges do I need to get/achieve to be able to NOT see this notice and HOW do I get them??? Please can any one respond? Thanks a lot
You would just need to use parts of the forum that aren't shut down. They were shut down intentionally.
You would just need to use parts of the forum that aren't shut down. They were shut down intentionally. Do you not think that it would be reasonable to assume that if major changes in a much loved too were contemplated, that it would be a good idea to let the members of the forum know in advance as to what devastating changes sorry improvements that were going to hit them? I know that DP is the best forum there is, at this time, but take it from me and long years of experience, that this way of thinking from the powers that be will not help the forum over time.
The biggest issue that people have issue with is the loss of iTrader, which we *did* let everyone know about almost 2 1/2 years ago. See this thread: https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/transition-away-from-itrader.1942652/ The problem is that there literally are thousands of changes, and every one of them is going to be "important" to someone. It's just not practical to let every user know about every future change. The Scripts area wasn't shut down just to spite people, it was shut down because we have a better replacement for it now. Obviously there's going to be a period where authors haven't listed their stuff in the new system yet (that time being now). But in the end, it was done to make the site better... It sucks, but in the end the old way of selling digital goods here was really, really bad... and wide open for scammers, spammers, people selling duplicate crap and people getting ripped off. The new system is designed to address all that stuff... but again... at this point not a lot of sellers have listed stuff yet with it being brand new. https://marketplace.digitalpoint.com/
hope that you are right. I am of course looking for an alternative right now because I am responsible to my clients, but I really do not believe that i could find anything as good as the original DP was.
I totally respect @mytechiestuff for bringing these issues up, I mean I only came here to buy and sell also, mainly to sell, but these new rules and changes are totally irritating. You may have warned users two/three years ago, however, the system was only recently removed, I remember because I sold a few websites here a few months ago and it was still running.
It was still available a few months ago, but it also had a giant/bold obnoxious message at the top telling you it was going away every time you use it.
I don't care about the message was just pointing that out what I care about is its taking 10 friken years to get 3 damn likes! I would buy a premium membership but I don't know if it'll be worth it I just want to sell my old dinosaur epn sites : /
It's pretty clearly defined what premium membership benefits are, so if you are asking yourself if it would be worth it, it's probably not going to be for you, since you don't get any secret benefit.
