Why my comments are not published?

I have recently started promoting my blog. What I am doing is that I am visiting blogs that have the 'Commentluv' plugin enabled and then commenting on individual blog posts. To my surprise, even though my comments are totally on-topic and appreciative, they aren't getting published by even a single blog owner whereas other people who are commenting after me, are seeing their comments getting approved. I have been seeing 'Your comment is awaiting moderation' notification for last 2 days.

Why is this happening? Why they are not publishing my comment?

I really wish I knew, I'm having the same problem. Spam comments seem to get through, but my manual on-topic ones don't :/.

I got a reply from a webmaster. He said the comment is awaiting moderation because it's the first time I am commenting on the blog. Are you also a first time commentator?

It is possible that your comment was recognized as spam or the website owner haven't read it yet.

Websites running on WP usually automatically publish comments of authors whose comment has been approved before.

Generally I've come to notice that most bloggers have their settings so that those who have never commented on the blog before have to have the comment moderated first. I know that's how I have it set up on my blog and it's to help prevent spam from getting through. Once you get one comment accepted on the blog, however, you shouldn't have to wait for it to be moderated again.

If it's taking a few days, I would send a quick email to the blogger. They may be busy with other things and might not have noticed that your comment is waiting.

My problem is solved now. I contacted the webmasters and they told me that the comments were awaiting moderation because it was the first time I commented on their sites. So, I guess your suggestions were right. Thanks guys

You are right, some websites, hosted on Hostgator have problems with commentluv plugin. The admins promised me that they'll look after it.

Don't get depressed bro! You just continue quality blog commenting and I believe webmasters will definitely approve your comments. In my case 80% comments get approved while 20% for some reason not approved. I believe this is normal case.

The best thing you can do when your first comment goes to moderation is read another article on the same blog and post another intelligent and insightful comment. Since the comment went to moderation there is a good chance it will be read by the blog author. And, she will read your additional comments and see that you are not just a random spammer interested in leaving a one time backlink. Repeat this commenting process over a week's time and your comments are likely to get published.

I have used both commentluv and disqus.
I get a better hit rate with disqus - more people leave comments when I have disqus enabled to when I had commentluv enabled

Disqus is a great community and maximum comments made by Disqus members are valuable and not spamming. We get real comments from real people who are really interested on our blog posts:).

The key to good commenting on a CommentLuv blog is to pick one that relates to your own site's theme and that you really like to read. Then take time to read the blog articles and make relevant comments. And, it seems like you are already doing this. And, of course, if you are a first time blog commenter on a blog, your comment will undergo moderation and take awhile to get approved. What you'll want to do is simply come back a few days later and read another blog article and comment on that. Focus only on new articles that have recently been published as many times a blog author will only approve comments for the most recent blog posts. As you become a more well known blog reader, the author of the blog will automatically allow your comments to be published without moderation. Do this for each blog you want a good backlink from, focusing first on quality comments and establishing trust. Another idea, would be to simply not include a backlink with your first comment. That is a better way to establish trust than to simply include with a backlink. And, then on your second comment, include the site link (but never anchor linked text within your comment as that will usually get your comment flagged as spam).

Wordpress is similar. You can't get a comment published unless it's the second time you have posted or more. I think it depends on what you try to promote, though.

I have had the same problem posting good comments on articles with similar approved comments and have still had mine deleted. One thing I have tried is posting another comment asking the webmaster how I can improve on my first comment so that it may be approved. Usually, this works.

I would also agree with most replies here. Some webmasters have to moderate your comment if you are a first timer commenting. You also need to make sure you leave a great comment and a comment that shows you have read the content on that page.

    Glad you solved your problem!

    Cheers!
