Why is he clean? Because panhandling pays well if you are smart about it, and looking at this guy's shtick, hes no dummy.

Hard to call it a scientific survey though. If he is as smart as he appears to be, he has probably parked himself in the path of traffic in some downtown metropolitan sky rise area, where average income is very high. I would expect a strong showing of non-religious.

Notice the smartphone charger plugged into the wall, stealing electricity from the local business behind him?

Who knows. And who cares. Even if he is what society would consider homeless, I'm sure he gets enough to sleep in a nice motel room.

Right. He's got his phone. Also, he just ate at subway. I think this picture actually originated on Reddit by an atheist. I'm sure it's not staged at all...:)

I really like the phone charger, but for me the packing tape is hilarious. I mean you are poor, yet you go to the store and buy the expensive packing tape to hold down paper on the sidewalk. You know what they say, it takes money to make money.

Most professional panhandlers pull down upwards of $400/day in some cases, its $400/hr... Most only work a couple hours, then get a nice hotel, eat a good meal, bath and go back to it. If I had to guess, you're average panhandling homeless person probably has more money in their pocket than you do at any given moment.

Just to clear up potential confusion:

I did not post this to make a statement, but to share something that I consider a clever "marketing idea".

I care. In this day and age of fake reality TV shows, I want to know is that a real photo someone snapped on the street or is that a staged photo and that person isn't homeless.

So @Blogmaster, where online did you find that photo? You seem to be pretty cagy about it's source. The meta data of the image is wiped clean, just as the papers taped to the pavement are all clean, as if the photo was taken just after it was set down.

BTW, panhandlers in Boston make between $300 and $400 a day.

Same is true in San Francisco. I always chat with the taxi drivers, and I've met more than one who toggled between pan handling and driving a taxi. They consistently said panhandling paid better.

You are right about it being clever marketing.

I don't think what he is doing can at all serve as an accurate test to answer the question he is asking.

His strategy catches attention though and is likely to motivate people to give in order to defend their specific ideology or faith.

Therefore, you'll have people who usually don't give anything to the homeless, giving to this guy.

Nice strategy. I'd certainly drop a tenner (atheist bowl). It appeals to my sense of humour, but also appreciation of his approach. Like when I was in Krakow I gave money to a guy a "money needed for beer" sign. ( At least he was being honest.)

I know a guy who was panhandling somewhere in Texas, in 1980s, he was saying $150-200 in 2 hours (that was good money 30 years ago ). His problem was that he had to be drunk/high to do it. All of the money were spent on booze/drugs and whores. He said in his circles it considered to be a ( frowned upon ) waste to spend ( any ) money on food. I am pretty sure he didn't live in a hotel.

The fact that you still refuse to tell us where you found this photo. tells us that you know it's a complete fake.

Here he is wearing the same clothes, different day. Same bags, some more signs, same shoes, different drink bottle..

What I find most interesting though is he has his USB adapter for his phone plugged into the wall..

Why there should be a tag. Can we just get along instead?

If you mean "tag" as in "label", no idea.. The left (at least in the US) has been perpetuating segregation, labels, and a divisionist agenda for nearly a century. Why? I have no idea. Until we stop breaking everyone into separate groups we'll never defeat racism, religious or sexual persecution.

He's just probably making a survey.

But to answer the question, in the first photo looks like the Atheists and Agnostics gave more. Second photo, Christian and Atheist.
