How do I promote a new blog?

Hey guys, this is a new blog that I've just started. It is 30 days old and I would like to know the best way to promote it and gain traffic. I want to know how to gain more favor with search engines and increase my Alexa rank. Any help would be great!

To promote my blog, I generally advertise on a variety of promotion forums in addition to having links to my blog both in my signature (if permitted) and in the website field that can be found on most profiles. I also use social media to promote my blog and my latest posts (Facebook, Twitter and G+ being my primary social media outlets).

In addition to that, I've also joined a variety of blogging communities and recently went to my first blogging event where I was able to do a lot of networking. One thing to keep in mind is that you should post consistently when you do begin to get readers and even before that. People like to know that you aren't just going to dropped of the face of the Earth at any moment and most people seem to like schedules.

I suggest you engage your readers/potential readers through social media sites. You can share any new posts there, and you can share other things as well that can give value or inform your readers. Creating a strong online presence through social media sites can help you get more traffic to your site.

YouTube marketing if you're capable. Not too much SEO, especially not automated stuff - it's just not necessary for you yet. When I say social bookmarking, I mean manual bookmarking on all the well-known sites like Digg, Tumblr, Reddit, etc.

Ultimately, you just need to keep posting great content as often as possible. You can guest post on other related blogs or become active in relevant communities online, but posting great content on a regular basis is the most important factor.
