Need advice for my entertainment website

    Hi friends,

I believe this is the right place to post about this. I apologize if I'm wrong.

I've been running a pic-based entertainment/humor website for the past 6 months or so, and it's grown in traffic of late. We get around 60,000 unique visitors every day now and all are real human beings.

However, I'm really a novice as far as marketing and monetizing is concerned and could use some help regarding this.

Currently, I'm using Google Adsense as the primary ad network and it's giving a really poor CTR and an eCPM of around 0.60.

I would like to know how I can increase revenue on the site and what are the aspects that I need to work on in order to make big bucks from the huge amount of traffic that I'm getting.

Any help regarding this matter will be appreciated. I'll also be taking questions and would answer anything which doesn't divulge too much about my site and methods of promotion.

    Thanks in advance.

Humor/entertainment sites are great for traffic but what you are finding is typical for ctr. I would suggest sticking with Adsense as its a good solid earner but look at alternative sources of revenue. Maybe you can direct sell some of your traffic to other humor website owners though sponsored content. You could also create other websites and use the network of websites to drive traffic to each other and get more revenue from increased traffic instead.

I agree. Pic based sites are generally quite hard. I do agree with your "direct sell" proposal as I think that is a great way to go at this.

Thanks for the prompt response. It's good to know that this isn't a isolated issue that I'm alone facing and this niche poses such a challenge for all. I'm interested in knowing more about how I can directly sell some of my traffic to other websites. Is there any platform which I can use for doing the same?

Also, any other tips in order to optimize my business possibilities would be appreciated. Thanks.

Honestly - I would promote your site with a few things from Click bank, They have a section for media / entertainment and if your earning well with adsense I suggest making side bars ( or wherever you want them to be ) with click bank you could see some sales. They also Support Analytic's on the links you advertise. its a good money earner IMO

Thanks for the reply. Can you guide me through about how I promote my site via Clickbank. Any pointers would be appreciated. Sorry for being so oblivious but I'm not very well read about marketing tools outside of the basic ones.

First go to www.clickbank.com register there, then ( verify your email address yada yada ) Up at the top theres a place called market place hit that then on the left theres a side bar you can choose arts / Entertainment

Now: the whole Idea of click bank market place as a Affiliate is to find whats selling

this is where gravity comes in

Gravity is based upon how many affiliates are selling this vendors product

the higher the gravity the higher the CTR is and more appealing the product is

as well as Common sense stuff such as refund rates etc find one you really like and they offer you $xx / Sale

it can be up to 75%! commission for you ( Most of the dont go below 50% ) Which in my eyes is really awesome

Find one you like and click on it review the gravity etc refund rate Avg $ per sale how much commission you get and click the product

then you can read about the product etc

Now on the right had side theres a promote button click that and enter a trackting ID ( they also give you a QR code you can use on your website )

Then a link will appear such as ( http:/affiliatenamehere.vendorname.hopnet. com ) Copy that and its just like your adsense code just use what youve learned from Adsense and paste it in! all done! now the most important part is to SEO correctly as well as On page SEO correctly ( placing ads in hotspots )

I am Nit picky about the things I promote ( They MUST have a proffesional page / Squeeze page / offer page ) one thats not hard on the eyes if you know what I mean ( anything with 70 gravity or above is outstanding )
