How We Get "likes" ?

Im not going to be the first or the last person to be more than a little miffed at this like system, after going through the old process and posting 53 posts before to be suddenly told i need "likes" will just make people make contrived posts and replies just to get likes rather than people posting because they want to, its just a cheap gimmick and the new "read rulez or banned!" message is just pure authoritarian I don't like the attitude of it, and you will alienate allot of people who will start to think Digitalpoint has been taken over by some corporation in exchange for its soul written on a piece of paper.

 

We all know that digital point is the best for forums and I was wondering how can I get likes to become an establish member here on DP. I really need to know if you could help me guys

 

I'm certainly not an expert on getting likes but I've managed to get a few here and there. What I have done is to write as I speak. I don't go for flowery English but rather I use conversational type English. And I tend to be opinionated, this might get you criticisms but some will agree with you and therefore score you a like from time to time.
Also what you might try is using humor. If you can make members laugh they will be in a receptive frame of mind and give you a like now and then.

Yes I do get them, but usually I get them because I made a point that isn't too palatable.........hope they enjoy their meal. I certainly enjoy serving it.

It's amazing how many people use a sexy girl photo on a forum and think it will help. Whereas I decided to put a real photo of myself on here, showing off my beautiful yellow beak.

The new and improved DP is way, way beyond my ken!

I am not really looking for "likes" but can not even find any thing that I am looking for any more, in what used to be the only Super Techie Forum on the Web.

The DP I knew used to be sooooooo good in every way though and really was the best there was of it's kind on the world wide web.

I am so sorry for you that you never experienced the DP before it was IMPROVED.

Ah... but we must not be too hard on the powers-that-be here on the DP, as every thing in the Universe is auto-programmed to degenerate.

I refer of course to the law of atrophy, the law that according to the known science, effects every thing in the Universe.

The law of Atrophy states that every thing in the Universe is in a continual state of degeneration and self destruction.

So I guess that the DP that we all loved, had no choice but to submit to the inevitable law of Atrophy.

 

Out of curiosity, what's difficult? It took me a few minutes to learn where some stuff had moved (I had never used Xenforo before), but not such a big deal, really.

Do you miss the epic levels of spam or something else? I miss the negative rep option.

 

It is not actually that hard to get likes here. Just requires you to be little active on the forum , help others with relevant answers and avoid asking questions like "How to get more likes on DP?".

 

In my opinion, the suggestions and feedback sections can be good choice. Make sure you have mugged up all the rules before posting here.

 

I'm a new member and I've just came back here after a while. Maybe I don't deserve to give tips on how to get Likes (I still don't have Likes.. oops! ). Let's say it's my idea.. It's just like on how people like you on your daily life.. share something smart, something useful or even something funny..

 

Its simple-

Give the people something that they like, OR
Start your own forum that does not have a "Like" option

Those are just a couple of the most current threads, in this forum section, addressing the *exact* thing you made a new thread about. Holy crap people seem to think that they need their own thread just to ask what has already been asked and answered ad nauseum.

1. If you want to sell now, buy a premium membership.
2. Or get 3 measly likes. To find out how, read one of the dozens of threads already on that topic, or better yet, use common sense and simply post useful and/or helpful responses to others and the likes will come in due time.

What not to do:

1. Post a new thread asking how in the world you are supposed to get likes and complain that they are so hard to come by.
