chainki.org is the world's biggest collection of links that anyone can edit! So:
    • make sure your site is in Chainki :)
    • make sure you've added a link from your site to the page in Chainki which users to your site would find most useful! :)

Here is the live link www.chainki.org

and this site seems to be using ODP (DMOZ) data and it is announcing that it will replace DMOZ
    how it could be possible?

A directory can replace Dmoz only if it is build from scratch any way good luck with your project

How could chainki.org replace Dmoz? Firstly, Chainki is a fork from Dmoz (and so, yes, it was originally based on the Dmoz data), but now is off on its own adding its own set of sites, and so diverging all the time from Dmoz. Secondly, if more and more people start using it and editing it, eventually there will become a point when it will be more popular than even Dmoz.

Volunteer editors will choose to edit wherever they feel they can best contribute, and their contributions are the most valuable.

Then, the end of Dmoz will come. ;)

    Time will tell.

There are: English, Danish, Deutsch, Français, Nederlands, Svenska, but there's no Spanish ?
And, for The Netherlands, I think their language is Dutch.

Your idea is good, but the copied category from DMOZ will make your directory very complicated. For a directory, I think 2 sub level categories will be enough, and more than that will confuse web owners.

To replace DMOZ, just the same somebody wants to replace google.

What is meant by replacing Google ?

I think Dmoz gained importance because of Google's importance to Dmoz

I kinda disagree with that. That is one reason google likes dmoz because how it is organized. I think it's more work but will be a much better directory then a 2 sub level directory.

I think it has potential. We need more options to DMOZ.

It's an open wiki - you just find the right page, click the edit tab at the top of the page and add your site.

    See:

    http://en.chainki.org/index.php?title=Chainki:How_do_I_add_my_site?

    for more details.

It's a wiki - that means that anyone can edit. That's the idea. "something has got to be wrong" - yes, an antiquated system like Dmoz where only an elite few can edit.
