Skype is starting to suck. Whats the alternative?

Recently I notice many people tell me they cannot find me on skype despite giving them my exact skype id. They say they get multiple results. I believe it is something to do with the latest changes by microsoft that just searches the whole skype by usign the keywords and not the exact id.

This is very stupid and annoying. Did not have this problem before.

I notice many people moving to ICQ again. Atleast the number system works perfectly.

What are you guys using? do you plan to move to ICQ? or something else?

    thanks

I'm using LINE. Although, it doesn't have video functions, it works perfectly as an alternative to Skype. Though in comparison to Skype, it's quite basic as it's just a messaging app for Android/iPhone, but they have a program for computers, as well now.

ooVoo, is also another alternative that is very similar to Skype. I've used it before and it's pretty good. - Maybe better than Skype.

@echo_unlimited thanks for those. I have heard of LINE before but not ooVoo. I will check them out as well. Whats the con against ICQ. I reinstalled in recently and find it quite awesome stil. It's been around for as long as I can remember it. Btw ICQ does not seem to have video either though it supports all major brands of phone OS

Skype in windows with only being able to minimize even when you hit the X is the worst thing.
Why Skype? Why? Great job on innovation...

It's better under Linux though in Linux it has less features.

I never heard of this problem of not finding some one. Rather I found the person whenever I tried. On which platform are you using Skype?
I am using it on Windows and Android.
On Android it occasionally crashes to my annoyance but on Desktop it works like a charm.

user not found, then i decided to try again, and it found him...This has happend
to me more then once also; I feel like I am spinning the wheel, will skype find
the user name, or will it come up once again user not found....

Other programs arent really widely used, so you may not get very far with others.

    Just stay with skype.

i am trying not to use google stuff too much. they already completely own all my data. It is starting to become a monopoly with google.
with skype i am on the latest on win 7 (i hate the windows 8 one) the win 8 one is asking me to use Live account but what about my own account? It is a mess guys. I don't think i am sticking with skype.

maybe the add contact by skype id is now relocated or something. But unless your id is very very unique it will be hard for anyone to find you.

I,m not that intense with skype or anything else, but I really hate changes to my routine of things, I was ok with msn though, however I never use anything to its full potential and try to keep things simple (KISS) so though I have had skype forced upon me I guess I,ll just have to try and figure it out, unless there is something around thats simple & easy like msn was.
