I would go for WordPress. It works with a charm and irrespective of the type of content onsite.

If you want a successful dating site where people actually meet each other and you have paying members (like match, eharmony), building a site with wordpress isn't the way to go. You'll need a detailed custom backend for your members and their profiles, detailed search functionality, payment processing, and much more. Professional design/build is the way to go IMO.

I know that but fot the beginning the client does't have much money to invest.

That's why I search for some simple and cheap solution in the beginning.

If you like my site UstillUp you should consider using something like Dolphin by Boonex or Social Engine to build your dating site. I've been using both for about 6 years and have nothing but good things to say about both companies. You can make a really, really awesome dating site using either one of these software companies.

Dating , unless it's fetish dating, will probably fail. So many spam dating sites out there right now, but if you make something unique , and maybe free, you might get some recognition.
I would use wordpress with buddypress, the reason is that unlike dolphin 7 (sounds too good to be true) , buddypress doesn't crash on you every couple of days. Wordpress is the best place to start. Then develop , or if you are not happy with the results, try something else (maybe dolphin 7 isn't such garbage anymore, I really dont know). Cheers mate!

i think this is tricky niche too, but it's up to you... speaking of CMS, i'd go for WordPress. easy & cool. hate Joomla, btw

If you`re serious about it , a custom solution is the way to go, but unfortunately there are TOO MANY similar sites already, so i think it`s money wasted, so you should try with buddypress (WP) and see where you`re heading. To tryly succeed, you should come with a truly unique idea.

You should pay a lot for advertising in order to make the website work.
