I am web content writer. Currently I am being trained to be a SEO. As a part of my project, I have been asked to rank a site which is still unranked. I have been submitting the url in the free directories of PR 3+ and also blogging for the same site. Still I am not able to see any result. Some pls guide me about how to go about the same. Whether I should opt for paid submission at a highly ranked site.

Avoid general directories... only submit your website in niche directories or quality directories which are being moderated by human. but do it very less amount. it should be used for sake of link diversification. Write content on interesting topics and post them on your own website. promote these content on on twitter linkedin and facebook (you may use other social network as well).

Find high pr general and niche directory and submit with your targeted keywords. Promote your content some social media sites like Google+, Facebook, Twitter. Create quality and fresh content and publish high pr do follow web 2.0 sites. Guest blogging, blog commenting, forum posting is a good way to improve traffic.
