Why is automated submissions in web directories so badly frowned upon? Isnt it just smart outsourcing?
Partly because a directory may not have the category that your site is in, but they will still submit it anyway and when the owner see the site it's some sort of gets on their nerve. That aside, if you use an automated program your website can be in 1000 directories over night, something which Google will fawn upon as Google is rather smart enough to know that its not humanly possible to have submit 1000 links in one night
In automated submissions it's way easier to just spam a directory, then it is to find the precisely right subcategory for your link. This means that the chances of annoying the directory owner are considerable. And the directory owner will likely think 'those damn automatic submissions' - and frown.
If you were a directory owner would want to go through 10000 links submitted daily? Thats one reason I am quitting an automated directory service, good luck getting accepted!
Manually doing these type's of things usually increases your success rate by ensuring the content you submit these directories is of the most accurate and highest quality. Automated submitters can be considered as spam to some directories, thus providing them with reason to blacklist your website from their directory.
Yes automated submissions are truely annoying! Adding captcha just means they now get sent via email grrrrr! Where is that delete key?
Becouse you don't have 100% control so we all know bad things can happen when we don't have control ...so i vote for MANUAL any time
To easy for spammers to submit their rubish then If you have a quality website worth listing in directories, take the time and submit manual.
If automated submissions are done right, then the listings are fine. However, some are so bad with absolutely crappy syntax and spacing errors after commas that it becomes unacceptable. If you are doing manual submissions, you will hardly miss the appropriate spacing after every comma.
Yep, don't risk your reputation (and business) using a spam (or spam-like) software. The recent Forum Equalizer debacle comes to mind.
Probably because most people assume that various directory submission softwares submit to wrong category, or fill in the incorrect information, so the general assumption is manual submissions are better. However, if the software can fill in the correct information and select the proper category, auto submissions would be better than manual submissions.
My question is, who has the time to search and submit to numerous directories. This is a time consuming process that would take a long time to build any decent number of links. This is what I have been struggling with. Mindy
Well, yes manual submission can be time-consuming but because you take a long time to build a decent number of links, your traffic is considered more natural and the site would be more acceptable by Google. They want natural back links rather than one big bunch at one time. Building relationship is not a process which you do once and be done with it. It takes time. It is not so much the number of back links you get which counts but rather the quality of the link backs. I believe there are only a number of directories or search engines which are widely visited and getting listed on them counts. Manual Submissions is great if you do it yourself so you can assure that you post to the right directories. However, I noticed that when I paid some people to do it for me, they seems to just want to rush the job and copy and paste the entries into the directories, without real regards to posting to the most appropriate categories. It seems like they just want to get the job done. Some are like that but not all, I guess the trick is picking the right person to do it.
