I just installed my first Vbulletin forum and noticed that i have following lines in my footer: Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.4 Copyright ©2000 - 2006, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. I think this looks unprofessional. Can i keep only first line and replace "Copyright ©2000 - 2006, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd." line with my own copyright notice?
The minimum copyrights that according vbulletin, jelsoft you can/should keep is what you have mentioned, removing version number is totally ok. But it should be VBulletin, Copyright ©2000 - 2006, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
This is one of the reasons why I don't like vBulletin at all. When you see vBulletin, you immediately know it is copyrighted by Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd., What for should I need give them free advertising if I'm paying for a license? At least the footer link should be killed
If its a concern, and you wont wanna let users know about jelsoft, I think its very little. try and code your self a 0.05% of what vb team has done you will realize how hard it is. By purchasing a license does not mean you own the software you just have the license to use it that's all.
I'm of the opinion that $120.00 for copyright removal on vBulletin is a very fair price. However, it feels like a flat tax to me. New forum owners pay the same price as a big-board bringing in 20k a month.
Its not their business to make your forum big.... they have their own expenses and thats how to cover them... IMO vbulletin is cheap.... such a great software at such a low price...
I had put all this in one line: Powered by vBulletin. Copyright ©2000 - 2006, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
