Editing URL will be effect on ranking ?

    Dear All,

    I want to know if we edit below URL because of spelling mistake so it will be effect on ranking ? URL http://ascotteak.com/becnhes/

    We will make it http://ascotteak.com/benches/.

    If , I edit then what will do with Old URL which already indexed and ranked ? have to use redirect with 301 method ,

    if yes then how we can use 301 redirect method ?

    Always use 301 redirect, as it is permanent and SEO friendly redirection method.

    Using 301 will not effect it as it will tell Google that URL is now moved to the new one... Its the best possible way to change busy URL's...

    That's the correct answer and once set up it should not effect the rank adversely
    If you have cPanel hosting the "Redirects" icon is where to find how to set it...

    Do 301 from cpanel. As simple as telling the page you want to redirect and to where.

    he pointed it exactly true.., 301 redirection is the best option, you can found in c-panel.., but it also depends on your hosting server.. some might have .htaccess file from where you can redirect..,

    Thanks for your all suggestion . I used 301 redirection from wordpress Plugin. You can check above URL. want to know old page ranking & page rank will be transfer to new URL ?

    Proper Redirecting will solve your problem mate. It wouldn't affect your ranking.

    yep, as the above mate said, your RANKING will not effect with this.. but their might be some fluctuations.., but gets stable after a couple of days..,

    301 is fast and permanent. How soon you will be reverted? it depends on crawl rate of this page. frequently crawled and visited page often gets changed quickly in search index. After setting up this redirection, you can force Google to crawl your website through Google webmaster.
