I have noticed a trend of people who get caught violating DP rules and getting infractions are now hiding their profile details. I think the idea behind this is to frustrate those who might be doing due diligence or looking into their posting history - and reporting when necessary. While I understand that some or all of the same information can be found using the search function, I think the extra steps of having to click away from the profile one went to look at disuades people from continuing to look and acts as another hurdle to seeing the information. I think allowing people to essentially hide their forum activity is not something that benefits anyone but scammers and rule breakers. I can respect people who want to hide some personal information, such as contact info, but it seems that if we can get this information (Recent Activity, Started Threads, etc.) that there is no real reason it is not available universally on everyone's profile page. I would like to see the following links on every profile page (where it is currently hidden): https://forums.digitalpoint.com/members/username.member#/recent-activity https://forums.digitalpoint.com/search/member?user_id=member# https://forums.digitalpoint.com/search/member?user_id=member#&content=thread There are a lot of people who work trying to help to keep this forum clean of spam and this is one of the few tools that make it somewhat easy to do that. Sure we *could* do it without it being added to the profile, but it makes it more difficult and less of a easy thing to just do.
If you go to a profile and click the posting tab then scroll to the bottom there is an option to see all content or started threads. or are you referring to something different?
I am referring to those not being on people's profile who have hidden their profile. I will send you an example via PM.
ya, I was just thinking that lol =) It is a good idea to have some info visible (IMO) for the reason you mention. I use those button a lot to check out peoples started threads
I agree... Judging from the comments in the code, it looks like XenForo developers have plans for a "mini-profile" for those that want to hide their full profile. But until that's available, there is no profile hiding any longer.
Some things don't take a lot of mulling over. The old system didn't have private profiles, so going back to that isn't going to have any hidden effects we have to think about.
When you click a username, the mini-profile appears on screen. Click the number beside "Messages" and you can find the latest posts.
