many would suggest that forum posting can give you link juice as well as unlimited traffic. i do accept the fact.

Forum posting is one of method used for effective link building and also this is a process of commenting on different topics , participating in creating threads , replying to the threads and getting connected with a group of people.

I think forum posting is not a useless spam if you follow forum rules. It will give you relevant traffic towards your site, as your answer is really helpful and best among all.

 

Forums are good place for learning, if you don't have any knowledge or certain things then you can post your questions in forums and your question would be resolved, this is the main function of a forum, well, people use it for promotion, link building purposes etc. but it totally depends on your contribution.

 

If you use a forum right, it can be a source of traffic, but the topic of this forum thread was forum posting for SEO value. Read Google's webmaster guidelines. It's going to be low value (near to zero, if not zero) at best, but a strong chance it will be seen as spam (see the Link Schemes section).
