Which domain do you think would be best for Classifieds site. both domains are around 10 years of age or older. hxxp://xxx.advertisingboard.com hxxp://xxx.classifiedboard.com Vote now! Thanks
I would have to say number 2 as well as it tells visitors that it's for classified ads whereas the first one may be confused with other forms of advertising or perhaps spammy in some context
thanks, I wish i had something a bit more catchy...to me, classifiedboard.com sounds like some type of board that is classified, that is how it sounds to me anyway, may use it, not sure yet...
For the first one, you will tend to get more general ads rather than local ads. As for the second one, people tend to think it is a local site and a local classifieds. Now if your target is to get local people, then my vote is the second one. Otherwise, I'll choose the first one. Alright, I'll tell you more. The word Ads is being searched a lot more than the word Classifieds, however the competition is getting tougher for word ads as well. We are quite good with classifieds and it is always nice to know people in same field. Let us know if could have been any help. Best of luck.
I may not set it up anyway; you are right, it is tough getting just about any site off the ground these days; and the last time i remember having one; all i got was spam, adult, phone ads, etc...from time to time, you do get an actual legit ad, but 99% of the time, it is nothing more then spam....
Hi dscurlock, Like everybody else I like #2. I have some classified sites, but they are in very small niches and I know how hard it is too attract ads in the beginning that aren't just spam. It helps to add classified posts yourself to your sites to get some traction going, people don't like to post in a ghost or spam town. And as for copyright issues, if there are multiple instances of the same classified ad posted at other sites, I don't think you will have any issues, just be wary of which ads you repost. Also since the second URL uses the word classified, you might be able to use that in your logo to help brand yourself (For Your Eyes Only Classifieds) or something along those lines. It could help to differentiate your site. Best Regards, Brandama
I do not plan on spending a great deal of time with this; I may just consider this a hobby, so I do not expect anything to happen over-night... I am not too sure about either of the above names... They seem like they are just to generic...
having the word "classified" can change the game completely, as far as SEO is concerned. You should go for it.
You would think... These do not have "classified" in them, and they appear to be popular... craigslist.com backpage.com GumTree.com BTW: I forgot to mention, I also have this domain also: http://www.classifiedmarketing.com
I like hxxp://xxx.classifiedboard.com, it seems to fit better for being a classifieds site. hxxp://xxx.advertisingboard.com seems like a board where you can purchase advertising on other sites.
I also have a domain that may work very well in the Adult/porn, etc... regardless if it is adult/classified/other; the competition is very stiff, and i fear that it would be a long run, and huge investment.... This is why a lot of sites come and go as quickly as they do; Some guy with $20 in his pocket thinks he is going to get rich by setting up a forum/site, and he has no resources to put into his site, then he gets bored fairly quickly, then gone by the next year when it is time to review his registration for his domain.....
I choose 2. I have few classifieds. Classifieds business is hard to earn these days. Most ads are spam or scam from India and Africa. Waste lots of time deleting and blocking them.
I would go with hxxp://xxx.classifiedboard.com I tried running my own Classifieds site but most of my time was wasted on spam. It is a tough market.
