Who do you guys think is the best hosting provider? I have been using hostgator for 6 or 7 years and I have finally had enough of their crap. HG sucks so bad. I have a customer that has 3 businesses under his main corporation and has over 60 salesman and their email is always messing up. and mine too on my own server. I do have VPS account but they suck, HG sucks and I'm ready to switch. So give me your opinions on the best hosting companies out there. thanks in advance, Rob
Hostgator has gone way downhill. They were already going downhill previously, but when EIG bought them, that was the beginning of the end. EIG is known for destroying good hosts, unfortunately. If you are using a VPS currently, however, it's not going to be their fault if your email is messing up. A VPS is somewhat like a mini-dedicated server. There is nothing on their end that is going to cause your email to be messed up, unless the IP address for your VPS is blacklisted somewhere. How exactly is your email getting messed up? Is it not getting delivered, or are you getting errors on your VPS...or?
It's more than likely a managed VPS, in which case the administration would be up to HG. So if there are email issues, it would in fact be their fault.
Getting errors and the messages sent back. Once a week I have to restart the container for some reason.
Ya, I have a VPS and so do 2 of my customers and weekly one of them is having issues. IOS devices not ending the processes and stupid stuff.
That depends...most managed providers only manage the basic OS and control panel. If it's a 3rd party script or PHP file or forum or such sending the mail, for example, most providers won't touch it, managed or not. It simply isn't their responsibility. You will be very hard-pressed to find a managed provider or even management company that will troubleshoot 3rd party scripts. Indyonline, what are the exact error messages you are getting, particularly on the messages that are being sent back?
True, my suggestion would be you either share the problem with us to figure out a solution or you get a freelancer to fix this case as hosting companies will most likely not be interested in taking this responsibility.
The good host is the one that makes you happy. Usually big companies wont do that, the overselling is getting worst and worst. Try to find a company that is focused on customer support and have a NO overselling policy.
Just try to google there are so manay companies with good services and plans ,just try to analysis that plan according to your choice and according to your website technology.
how does this help at all? Starting to wonder if you are running a web hosting coupon site you are secretly trying to promote
Besides the big ones you could also check out smaller hosting companies, as you will find some here in the thread. I think all of us will be happy to help you out. Don't hesitate to contact me for details
Gotta love them n00bies... (not really) One telling me to "Google it" and the other giving me a coupon for the host I already have... FN idiots...
I'll be a bit nicer and tell you exactly - www.hawkhost.com. Good prices, great support, reliable host. It takes a lot for me to say "great support". The tickets are responded to quickly and usually fixed first time (except an issue with Drush, but that was probably due to how I had written up the fault and the fact it's an unusual one). It's the best host I've ever used (aside from a dedicated server I managed myself). The only thing you might have an issue with is that they use LiteSpeed. (.htaccess files are compatible though and I didn't need to tweak these or PHP scripts to get them to work.)
Well, I know that hostforweb.com is pretty good web host. I believe this company is flexible and stable enough to satisfy all your specific requirements and keep your web sites always online. The code 'spring' gives 20% off the price.
