How can I drive traffic to my forum?

Hi Guys,

I had created my website on technology (Linux) category 2 months back and now it is on Google page#1 for most of articles. I am getting about 100 visitors each day. Now I have added a forum section also there.

I was wondering if anybody help me in getting traffic to my forum. How can I get users who can discuss their problems in my forum and get answered by experts?

I think Social Media Optimization is the best way.

 

Well, you already gain good targeted traffic to your site, and you shallnt worry to much about the traffic for your new forum. What you need to do is focus on develop the content for your forum, ask your friends or hire some quality poster to make your forum active, so that the visitor will join the forum

 

I agree with you lifeplayer that my site is already getting traffic each day but you know each user don't post problem. They just want to find solutions and that's it. How can I get experts on my site to answer people?

 

If that's the case, I doubt that the visitor doesn't post thier question because they find no place to ask the question. Therefore, adding forum is good ideas. Regarding the experts, suggest you can ask some of your friend or yourself answer the question for them, once the forum grown, then only hire some expert and moderator if necessary

If you want to drive traffic you can do following:

1. Submissions on various Search engines
2. submission of sitemap
3. Create an account on google webmaster tools and bing webmaster tools
4. Add unique content to your site
5. Create page on facebook and twitter account and auto post your posts to both facebook page and twitter, manually or via twitterfeed, this will get you lot of visitors.

This is a great question. Driving traffic to a new forum can be a difficult task. Who wants to start a thread if they don't know anyone's there to listen? You should definitely link to the forum from all of your articles, and I would think about designing an eye catching graphic that you can use to help draw visitors in. From there, as moderator its your job to help start new conversations, and keep current ones going. Think about what threads you can start that people would have an opinion on, or asking a question that your members would be willing to answer, and then of course discuss further.

Do you one thing, check the page in your website which is having most views and add a post telling them to visit your forum for more information. You can add this post or image in all your pages so that you can get signups to your forum from the visitors you are already having daily.

You're actually doing it now. Get into related forums, help out then invite them to view your site. Another way to get "experts" on your site and forums is to allow them to guest post on your site. They have to get something in return.

I'm in a similar position i want to gain organic traffic without having to pay. I am willing to put the effort in daily but want make sure i'm going down the right track.
