How Good Are Single Word Domains Suffixed With Sensible Digits?

What's your opinion regarding single word domains suffixed with some sensible digits/numbers like 101 (FAQ), 365 (days), 360 (degrees), 247 (24x7)?
    For example (random):
    Atlanta101
    Jokes365
    Help247
    View360
    etc.
Is it a good idea to register/acquire such domains for long term investment? What do you think?

Yes, those domains can be valuable too. Of corse you can't expect a price so high like a domain without those suffixes but there are many good sales.

You can confirm for example here: http://www.dnsaleprice.com/

I think of it in terms of can/will the average person read it as you intend it to be read or not. 247 should commonly read as 24/7, etc, etc; however leet speak (AKA replacing E's with 3's ex: l33t sp34k) is not as recommended, unless your a gamer you're not likely to be familar and read it as such.

That and numerals just aren't as valuable in general, with some possible exceptions.

That's right, they can't command a price as high as those without suffix. But nevertheless should be a good catch since we are talking about one word domains.

Yeah, leetspeak would be going a step further and can be quite complicated for a layman.

Well, I would not buy them. Might make sense if you are going to develop them, but I do not see them as an investment.

hmm... If they are good enough for development, then market must exist in near future.

Not necessarily. They might be "good enough" for YOUR development, but that does not mean that somebody might be willing to pay $$$ for them...

I suggest you make a simple business case for these domains. The rule I follow is that if I invest in a domain (registration or purchase) I will keep it for 10 years before I am able to sell it (so the estimated final cost is purchase price +10*reg.fee). I will not invest in anything that I cannot sell for at least 5 times that price. (because there is a risk you never sell it, so some investments protect others). And please be careful... the worst error you can commit is expecting to sell it for many $$$$. Sorry, not going to happen...

You are right. There is lot of risk involved in domaining and unless you strategically minimize it, you'll be in deep soup.
