I am looking for websites that offer green certificates that can be published on a website. (i.e. co2neutralwebsite.com or co2stats.com.)

    Thanks a lot in advance!

I think you may be in the wrong section, unless I just don't understand the question. Good luck either way.

    Thanks for your input, ninjamtlt1.

I am refering to eco (green) labels, such as carbon neutralization for websites. Here is a good description from co2neutralwebsite:

    Does anyone know similar websites?

yeah, I did some research. CO2neutralwebsite.com seems most trustworthy. Pretty good marketing idea to join this initiative. I notice you get some good inlinks by joining (on top of the icon). Only bad thing is, that you are not the only one who has gotten this idea.

Yes, I figure they are. Their service is not cheap though, which is why I am looking for alternatives. It also does not have to be a carbon offset service. Basically I am looking for any type of eco seal that I could publish on a website.

    green certificate = ecologic certificate

    I found a new site: co2neutralseal.com

Additional links will be appreciated. :)

Here is another one: love-trees.com They have certificate and website badges on their website. For $5 only you can plant a tree.

Did you know you can actually neutralize your own website and make it carbon neutral for about $12 per year or less in some instances. Recently I did some research and found that in 12 months, a dedicated server will produce about 632 kilograms of carbon in the atmosphere. So to offset a server such as this would require simply 1 (one) carbon credit. Most carbon credits cover 1000 kilograms or 1 metric tonne of carbon and vary in price from usually about $10 up to $30 depending on your supplier. I even found a seller on ebay selling carbon credits for $22 each.

The point is that by buying a carbon credit you have nuetralised your website because most websites are on shared servers and wouldn't even use a fraction of the approx 630 kilos of carbon emitted by the server.
So do a google search and find a reputable carbon credit supplier - buy yourself a credit and then show your site off to the world as being carbon-nuetral. If you want a free "eco-friendly" logo to use - why not browse over to http://www.webtechnologyqueensland.com/green-hosting.php and use their free green logo on your website

Com'on guys. Google and Bing alone consume more energy and produce more carbon than thousands of servers worldwide ever will. Are you telling me that I should stop using them as my search engines? You're trying to reduce the "emission" of your site, yet you make more carbon by using Google searches. Not cool.

Is this thing for real or is it a new marketing strategy that makes a ton of money for people? If it is I am in! But I'll be in for the OTHER green.

Thank you for your input, David Alley. They webtechnologyqueensland.com logo is a good suggestion but does not particularly suit my needs.

Any ideas in this thread are still appreciated. :)

Internet, websites, computers are about as non-green as you can get. First off computers servers, circuit broads, etc are made in huge factories that create the most polluted places on earth. Then they get shipped with fuel a crossed the world. They become outdated in a few years and get made all over again. To power then you need to rape the earth for some coal or dam a river possible even build a nuclear plant.

But hey any good marketer can spin things.. "green" "local" "plant a tree"
