Hi, I see many people here pretending to know SEO and posting a lot of garbage so i decided to show you how to get high rankings in Google (I say Google because optimization for Yahoo and Bing is completely different.If you rank well in Google you will most likely not rank that well in Yahoo and Bing and vise versa.) I'm SEO expert since 2006 and during this time the SEO has changed a lot.In the past was an easy to task to get 1st page of Google and other SE - stuffing keywords in your content,spamming blogs and forums and the results ware amazing - high rankings in Google and making an easy money.But this is now PAST!Search engines evaluating like everything else and now to get higher ranking you need a completely different approach.Actually,now is much easier to get higher rankings and even someone who don't know what SEO is can build pretty good website optimization.Just follow some simple rules: 1.Focus on user experience (I'm starting with user experience,because latest updates of Google algorithm are highly focused on it.For example if people click on your page in Google results and then leave it immediately,this page will loose most rankings in a short period of time.)That's way you have to make your website for users,not for bots.Make a simple navigation,remove unnecessary things,add breadcrumbs (user can access every page from your website with 2-3 clicks).When you finish with the design,ask few of your friends to test your site and share their opinion about easiness of use,moving from one page to another and so on... 2.Content - content is the most important part of your site.If you don't have unique content you can forget for high rankings.So stealing and rewriting content is not an option anymore.If you can't do it yourself -hire someone to do it.Also when writing the content try to include your targeted keywords,but don't stuff!Your text should look as natural as possible. 3.Value -Google filters are now sophisticated and will rank higher only websites that offer value for the users.So when making your website,try to offer something that no one or very few of your competitors offering.For example if your website is for carpet cleaning you can add carpet cleaning price calculator.This will help users to find something useful on your site and Google will definitely award you. 4.Meta Tags - i see many people here saying that meta tags are not important anymore - THIS IS A RUBBISH!!Think - what part of the websites Google is showing in the search results?Meta Description+ Meta Title+ Url or the page!!!So all of them are very important.Try to keep Title no more than 65 characters and include your most important keywords but don't repeat them.In the Meta Description try to describe the content of the page and keep it up to 150 characters. 5.Speed - The speed of the webpages will become more and more important (this is part of user experience actually). Google has even introduced page speed tool where you can test the speed of your pages (proof of my words). 6.Social Signals - Now is the Era of Social Communities like Facebook,Twitter and Youtube so you have to engage with them as much as possible.Place like,share,google + buttons on your pages.Create Facebook fan page and Google + page and try to get as many followers as possible. 7.Links - Links are still very important for high rankings just sources are different.You can forget blog comments,forum signatures,guestbooks,article marketing and all spammy ways to get links.To get valuable links find a reputable forum or community related to your site topic and try to get in content links (not signature,footer ot blogroll links).If the users of the community leave your link inside the content,this means that the link is useful for the entire community.If the link is useful for reputable community so it will useful for Google users as well...I know that you will get only few links like this,but believe me - they worth more than 10000 forum signature links from off topic community.There are many other ways to get quality links,but I'm writing this post for beginners so will keep it short. 8.Local Search - Add your site to Google Places,Bing and Yahoo Local.This will give you not only better rankings in Google but also a lot of free traffic and sales.Ones you get listed in the local search engines,ask your customers to leave reviews there about your services.More positive reviews - more trust from Google to your website. If you follow this simple steps,your website will get traffic from Google.There many other things that you can do (Google algorithm uses more than 200 different singles to rank a page) but if you are beginner this is enough for now.My next post will be focused on a advanced SEO techniques (for more experienced SEO's) but not sure when i will have enough time to write it down

Thanks for helpful information! It is very true that now SEO is all about user experience! But you also think of natural stuffs, if you are doing the same thing again and again, it won't work now, try to do something different from others, from other days.

Really such a good informative post but I think you also have to add on META keywords.I see many guys still using it for SEO purposes. OO guys get yourself into 2013 we are not in 2011.META Keywords never ever add it.No search engine use it any more for ranking purpose. Bing use it only but not for ranking purposes but for penalty purposes only.
Hi Zeshan Noor wahgra, You are absolutely right about meta keywords - Google Spokesman Mutt Cutts said in one video:"We don't use meta keywords anymore".But he also said (in the same video) that meta title and meta description are still very important.So in short: Spend time to make descriptive Meta Title and Meta Description but don't use Meta Keywords at all.
NASI surely META TAGS on the whole have still the same Importance even meta title I think greater.Google really consider meta title these days for rank.I rank a page recently in Top ten with few good bookmarks.The only two things I do. Onsite optimize that page. Give some good bookmarks. Its in top ten with in few days with page and domain authority still 1 and keyword difficulty level as per SEOMOZ toolbar is 58. I just wanna make people aware of META keywords.

These SEO sources are good,but you 100% trust only to Mutt Cutts (Google Spokesman).The other people can be right or wrong.So follow hos blog,watch his video and you always will be up to date with last Google changes.
