What Are The Best Ways To Utilize Google Adwords? My website is http://stocksonwallstreet.net and I've never used Google Adwords but looking to get started now so need some advice, thanks!
Google AdWords is a great, self-managed tool that is relatively easy to set up on your own. They offer great support by calling 866-246-6453. The key is to make your keyword selection and your ads coordinate with the landing page where you send people that click on your ad. Make sure to realize that when you add keywords, Google automatically makes them "broad match" which means that people can type in something quite different into the search box, but if Google thinks it's somewhat close to your keyword, they will show your ad. You might want to adjust your match types to something more "narrow" than broad match when you're starting out. Set your budgets according to what you want to spend and also note that Google may "allow" you to spend up to 20% more than your max budget. Just something to keep in mind. Hope this helps some!
Thanks you have been a great help so it's much appreciated, the biggest concern I have is learning how to bid properly and best allocated/spend funds. Also any good deals to start out? Does the free $100 Adwords gift card actually work?
I would suggest that you set your maximum budget correctly and then see how things go with Google's suggested max CPC. I have found that being in the top positions on the right side works well for many of my clients. Paying to be in the #1 position can deplete your funds quickly and doesn't always convert. Shoot for positions 4-6 and see how that treats you. Of course, every industry is different, but I'm just speaking from experience working my clients' accounts. And yes, Google often will give out $100 free to new customers. Hope this helps!
A good thing to know as a starter is do not leave keywords on broad match i.e. putting in wall street funds, because you can pop up on search results for things completely irrelevant. For starters I would use phrase match so "wall street funds" (example). Then make sure your keywords are targeted, if you know there are keywords you don't want to be coming up for i.e. "wall street jobs" then filter that as a negative keyword as [wall street jobs] (exact match). Ad words can be very tricky in terms of CPC increasing because of poor quality score/ad relevance/etc. Try it out though, I certainly think it's worth it if you're not showing up high on search results. Also try to put up a landing page that doesn't go directly to your homepage and optimize it for that add for a better quality score and a potentially lower CPC. If you want to learn more I'd try reading from the experts like PPC Hero.
