Hi All, For some reason my domain name is displaying as my title. My site is listed on yahoo and dmoz etc. Not that many backlinks, however last week google reindexed my site and set the title as CalorieHealthy on the main page. When i check webmaster tools i can see the keywords most used by the site are Fitness Log, Diet Planner. Am i doing something wrong. http://www.caloriehealthy.com is the site. Any help much appreciated. Kind Regards Fergal.
I checked your Source. It shows your title tag as Diet Planner, Fitness Workout Log, Weight Loss Journal, Meal Planner. Normally that is what should show up in Google search results. Not sure why it isn't. A wild guess? The title does look a bit spammy. Perhaps(?) in Google's algorithm, when they detect what they think is a spammy title, then they just display the domain name in the SERPs. Just a hunch, could be wrong. In any case, I would reword your title, which, frankly, does seem a bit keyword-stuffed.
Hey Fergal Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. Sounds like a simple case of the pesky snippets. You can view more info here: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35624 Basically, Google have (for whatever reason) decided that "Calorie Healthy" is the keyword which best describes what your website is about. They have therefore chosen to display this as the title rather than the title rather than your META title. It won't effect your SEO or anything like that, it's simply an automated truncation performed by G. Hope that helps! Do let me know if you have any further questions and I'll do my best to help you out
It all depends on how you search for your website... If you search for your title/keywords and your site is relevant to those keywords and title, it will look like this: http://screencast.com/t/E5AnFrGN Give it some time, get traffic to the site, organic traffic and Google will re-crawl your site plenty of times and display your meta title as soon as it finds it relevant to what your site is about. Holla!~
Definitely a little bit of OVER optimization there... I would change it up a bit either way... BOOOM!
Jim is right, the title is spammy and (in my view) useless. Google's algorithm will rewrite crap titles. Updates for this were released May last year (and probably at other times too): http://insidesearch.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/search-quality-highlights-39-changes.html You're not helping yourself by over-optimising like that. You've stuck a big red spam flag in one of the most important places for on-page SEO.
Hi Everyone, thanks for the update, i will change the title and hopefully it will update soon. thanks for all the help. Kind Regards Fergal.
