SEO for small (in terms of content) sites

How you do SEO in sites that does not contain a lot of content?

For example, suppose there is a client that wants a site composed of 3 pages, home, services, contact.

Home is mostly fancy staff about provided services.
Contact is just a simple contact form plus contact information.
    And services, say it's a few ( 3 - 4 ) paragraphs long.

Is it ever possible to get a good ranking for such a site?

As a 2nd example, suppose that another client wants a 10 - 12 pages, home, contact and the rest for services.
Say, 3 - 5 of the services pages have 20 paragraphs but the rest of the pages are like 3 - 4 paragraphs long.

I suppose such a site will be a huge improvement over the first one due to content, but can it get a good ranking?

    * Good ranking = 3 first pages in search engines

PS. I do understand that it's very abstract topic and might not get a clear answer. But nevertheless I would like to see what people think about the topic. I'm not a SEO expert but I can't believe that these sites will be able to rank in 3 first pages in search engines, because probably they don't have any real value.

While Doing SEO , content is the main thing. Either the client website is of 3 pages or of 12 pages , if the content of website is updated regularly then we can use the SEO strategies to gain ranking. As the main thing while doing SEO is the targeted keywords , Suppose in a site which has 3 pages and we are targeting 1 keyword for that site for home page , then we can easily do the necessary step which are required for SEO . But if you want to target 5 to 6 keywords in home page of 3 pages website and the keyword density is not good in the content of website then its very hard to target those keywords.

Google just want you to believe that a site needs CONTENT to rank... NO DAMN WAY!

If the site is useful, WITHOUT CONTENT, Google will put you where you need to be if the searched for keyword is far more relevant to your site than a site with content...PERIOD!

    Holla!~

Are you kidding me? WTF didn't you use all 30? Wanted to make it look like you really wrote all this yourself?

Next time you copy and paste shit, give credit to the source you got the info from!

How can a small site be useful?
More often than not, it will just be a small site to advertise services.
It probably won't have daily updates as well (say 1 - 2 per year).

Maybe you are referring to site traffic?
If (for whatever reason) the site traffic is huge, then the site is considered as useful? Is that what you are saying?
