This place now sucks

Used to frequent these forums all the time to connect with great programming/design resources, and just came back today to find a redesign & a new system put in place where a 4+ year veteran can't post in the marketplace unless I get at least 3 "likes" on something I've written previously, or pay for a subscription. How lame. Hope this place burns down in flames.

    I'm outta here...

I understand how you feel. I have been treated the same on another forum but it is pretty easy to get few likes if you reply to a few threads with some quality content.

Call me wild, call me crazy, call me irresponsible, call me what you will. But somehow I get the impression that *maybe* you're not happy?

If you're *really* planning to leave then nothing anyone says to you will make any difference. But if you're going to stick around then I suggest you check out Suggestions & Feedback forum. (I suspect this thread may be moved there eventually) There you will find plenty of tips on how to go about getting the 3 required likes.

I know how you feel. The veterans should of been grandfathered in. I was also trying to post a contest a few days ago and I can't until I receive 3 likes. I really like the new design but I don't like the new 3 likes rule. There's nothing you can really do about it but try and get those 3 likes. Good Luck.

Nonsense... there is nothing preventing you from finding their threads and buying that way.

If you've spent so much time here then how come you have so few posts? You aren't in favour of "giving back" or contributing to the community?

"Good luck"........Somehow I don't think that patience is the OP's strongpoint.:(

The 3 Likes Rule should be Substituted with something like Age for Old Members.

I really don't like your idea. Some older members have 5-10 years with practically no posts or anything resembling a contribution. Should they be rewarded just by virtue of their joining date when they weren't really a part of the site? Some members have been *around* DP for a long time but weren't actually *in* it.
Then again you have newer members who are truly valuble. I do believe this new like system works much better.

And allow the gates of spam to open up again? A "good" idea, mate.

@snous, Bye-bye. There is always Warrior Forum. Oh wait, you would have to pay to join so that you can buy services and the truly awesome WSOs (unlike DP - you don't need 3 likes to buy from people's threads).

The Loyalty of the Member through his Longevity should also be taken into Account.

Loyalty is fine but not as valuble as a contribution. Why reward loyalty to a member who has given practically nothing back to the site?

The 3 like rule is great to stop fakes from posting in the buy and sell
although I don't have any likes...

I do agree with the Contribution Thing.

There is that Trust Factor with an Old Member Joined in 2006 with 0 Likes than a Jan 2013 Badged Dude with 5 Likes.

    @mob
The worst example I've seen so far is a member who joined back in 2004 and had a total of 39 posts. He kept referring to himself as "a senior member". He felt that because he registered 9 years ago, he was somehow entitled to a kind of special status. He had only 1 like and couldn't accept that he wasn't an established member, he thought it was all so unfair.
