Suggestion Can we gain a premium membership without paying anything ?

I understand that special "extra" things can be achieved by buying the premium membership. But, why cant DP give a premium membership access as free to someone who really deserves it? Probably, you can set up high standards like he/she should have at least 7,000 + posts with a minimum of 300+ likes and 20 best answers or even higher! This way, will it not encourage the members to contribute something regularly? i think this is a kind of win-win situation for both DP and its members.

Members will also be motivated to get something valuable for free :)

I dont think they want an enslaught of contributions just for the sake of quantity. A few good posts is better than a million crappy ones. Maybe he could put the memberships on a barter site. Then ppl could trade work for them.

I am not talking about the million craps poster here. Certainly there are members who has done their best and I felt they deserve a free premium membership access. Giving it for free will encourage other members to contribute more right? But Moderators will have a tough time then! I should agree that

DP should throw a best contribution member contest every year
nominate 10 member, and other should make a voting
best three will get free premium membership

Yes! Some kind of engagement that should give the best for the best member here on this forum. End of the day, he/she should feel proud that they had been rewarded this way for all their efforts.

DP give us more surprises please :)

I just have visions of a spam-storm like there was before. SEO, Google and Link Development sections (and probably others) filled page after page with dumb, one-sentence posts. (I must have reported hundreds.) So glad Shawn isn't considering this.

That idea will result in millions of post that only have one sentence. But I think that likes and best answers can lead for premium membership. That will be good idea.

No it's not. Dp admin is not that dumb (he's not dumb at all, just sayin'...).

There is nothing in premium membership that a user *needs* to be able to function as a normal user.
