is it possible to avoid the google sandbox, or it this something i have got to look forward to being in?
you cant scape sandbox, specially when site is new, and also consider how competitive the keywords is... unless you use some BH tecniques and might risking your site for some penalties..
I dont believe in sandbox but I never targeted high paying keywords...so maybe it could be a reason why I never been there...
I believed in the sanbox existence until I run my web directory... it was in Google #20 for quite competitive term in just 1.5 months, I did NOTHING FOR THIS, except for having this term repeated 5 times on the home page content but it wasn't knowingly the site had few links and had no Page Rank at that time. now I believe that content is the king and the sanbox can be avoided.
For any of you who don't believe in the sandbox, which of you builds sites going for keyword phrase searches that are searched 24,000-72,000 times a month? Just go for these, and I'm certain you'll learn about the sandbox's existance.
i dumped a lot of hidden keywords on my site. worked well. helped me drive traffic with the keywords. now that my site is picking up, i removed them before google suspects it. always works and risk of getting caught with a new site is very low. but always remember to remove them once your site starts getting visited regularly by google
the sandbox is not a myth. the sandbox exists and it affects all new sites. you do not get out of the sandbox by "waiting" alone-- you can wait all you want and be in there forever. there is a way out, a direct, instant way out. I detailed it here.
That's not just sandbox' factor. If you are trying to hit such high competitive area you must realize it won't be easy because too many other websites are doing their promotion daily, so you must to invest twice or even more greater to become visible for such competitive keywords. My "recipe" to avoid sandbox is simple: 1) Good text content on the website, written by normal language for human, but contained keywords you want to target. 2) Proper metatags for that keywords 3) Getting one-way links from press releases, articles, directories, targeting keywords you want to hit, but always use slightly different titles for urls, to make the links look natural 4) Update content on the website or at least home page weekly or even daily, to encourage spiders revisit it more often. Ideal solution is running RSS news relevant by theme.
very nice recipe Julia.. i think for new sites to rank for competitive keywords its take time as the industry is highly saturated whereas if the industry has less competition even new sites can rank with 3-4 months..
The Sandbox is a myth I escape it all the time The Sandbox is a myth create by bad seo's as an excuse My seobook.org.uk site made it to #5 8 days after registering it is still at #5 4 months later sorry #6 today http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=seo+book&btnG=Google+Search and this is for a site with almost no content
The keyword search phrase "seo book" is not even a competitive term, there are only 328,000 pages that appears for that search term. Now check out the overture keyword suggestion tool, it is only searched 1,708 times a month... and overture is not a very reliable tool, so that could mean it is even searched much less. I have a site targeted to a very competitive search phrase, and now recently has a good rankng in google. Out of the blue, after 13 months, google just popped it up. I have not made any major changes with the site for the last 4 weeks. ( Only added about 4 pages of content and gained 20 links pointing to my site during the last 4 weeks) before my website began to rank in google, it already had more links and better content than the sites that were above it. I know for a fact the sandbox exist, at least for competitive search phrases
I was out of the sandbox in roughly four months, updated content regularly and i jumped up page 1 for all the top keywords in the topic
Since the sandbox effect was first noticed in the spring of 2004 I have launched several sites. They were usually sandboxed for periods of about three to nine months with one taking 15 months. This one was heavily optimised and I believe that the extended sandboxing could be related to this.
